From tap at Johnny's in Castricum. Brown color, beige, brown head. A nice bok beer, not too sweer.

(Bottle, Brouwerij ’t IJ, Amsterdam, 23 Feb 2017) Dark brown colour with hints of ruby. Frothy beige head. Malty nose with roasted grain, prunes and sweet liquorice. Malty, slightly roasted taste with notes of caramel, liquorice, dark fruit, black rye bread and a balanced spicy bitterness. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well balanced, but not lacking a certain punch. Nice one.

LCI. Uit de fles geschonken. Mooie rokerige dubblebock, goede balans tussen zoet en bitter, mooie nasmaak.

Bottle @ home. Clear red-brown color, small to average sized beige head. Smell and taste malts, some caramel, leaves, lightly toffee, moderate to medium sweet. Average body and carbonation. Ok beer.

UPDATED: OCT 19, 2016 Bottle, pours brown with an off white head. Light smoke, grain, dark fruit, nuts, light ash, tobacco in the finish. Moderate sweet and bitter. Funny how most flavours are smoke related but it doesn?t come across as a smoked beer, but rather one with smoke notes.

sjogro (4648) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - DEC 3, 2015
Typical IJ yeast flavor sticks out in the sweet brown beer. Backlog from 2014/10/11.

iowaherkeye (2703) - Ocean Beach, San Diego, California, USA - OCT 8, 2015
Footed glass at the brewery. Clear ruby, one finger beige head, good lacing. Smoky peat and tobacco up front, campfire smoke behind. Sweet toffee following into a little bit hot (given its 9.5% ABV) finish. Just a tinge ashy, bitterness 3.

RexTalionis (3779) - FINLAND - JAN 31, 2015
Bottle. Mahogny brown in color, off-white head. Like walking in a mill with some fresh grainy notes, nutty and sweet syrup in aroma. Dark fruity tones and bready darkness in taste. Some bitters are here and there as well. Towards the end some nuttyness mixed with chocolatey vibes appears. Tasty and easy drinking stuff.

3.6
PeatyPete (1112) - NETHERLANDS - DEC 29, 2014
Dark reddish brown with quickly vanishing head. Aroma of dark red fruit, raisins. Taste of chocolate, spicy and caramel.
