COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly called ’t IJ Scharrel IJwit A full-bodied, Amsterdam wheat beer that is dangerously ‘moreish’. Slightly cloudy, it has a beautiful golden colour and a soft, foamy head. When we brew IJwit, we use wheat malt as well as barley malt, which is also how the beer gets its name. The wheat malt gives the beer a delightful, fresh flavour, and the addition of coriander and lemon during the brewing process produces a rich aroma of banana, citrus and spices. Topped off by a fine, slightly sweet aftertaste, IJwit is a delicious thirst-quencher.

Fles thuis geprobeerd. Get is een gelig bier met een dun wit schuim. De geur is gistachtig. De smaak is moytig, gist en hibts van banaan?

From bottle. Pours hazy golden with low white head. Hoppy aroma, quite surprising for a Witbier. Flavour is a brilliant mix of the typical Witbier sweetness and hoppy bitterness. Very special, very tasty and very enjoyable!

I have bought this bottle at Amstein, St-Légier. I tried this one today at Bonfol, before to go to the restaurant. Best before 02/18 Lot 4 1206. In my point of view, it is a classical witbier, all the time pleasant even during the winter to clean your throat and to fight your thirst!!!! Yellow/dark color and troubled, normal carbonation for the style, white foam staying a good moment and creamy. The taste is dry and mineral for the style, you feel a bit the alcool, wheat, fruity but a bit soily with banana and butter note, some coriander and cloves but relatively discreet, if I compare wth the page 24, a bit hard at the final with the taste, a bit watery, not bad but not excellent.

Slightly hazy golden yellow with a thin white head. Aroma is of yeasts, malts, spices like coriander and cloves and some ripe bananas. Medium sweet and a nice mild bitter linger. Body is medium, fuller than I'm used to with this style, nice!!!
