2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
On tap at the Iron Hill Belgium Comes to West Chester event. The pour yields a very light colored beer. Lighter than straw and more along the lines of a Berliner. A bit of a head without too much retention. The nose and flavor have a touch of spice and breadiness, but are otherwise quite watery. Body is very light. Somewhat dry. Not a big fan.
12oz capped bottle. Dated 7-12-16, which I will assume is the bottled on date. Pours a clear golden color throughout with a slight hazy at the very end of the bottle. A small head with a decent longevity. Aroma is alcohol and thick dough, thick yet light feel to the aroma. Moderately-light sweet, not sugary. Low hops. Flavor follows up with similar restrained Belgianess. Its strong alcohol, lightly thick Belgian dough, low esters, low hop, sweet finish. Its not ester sweetness, its not big sugars, a very doughty, malty Belgian sweet. A lighter body with a lightly moderate carbonation. A little fruity yeast at the end. Definitely a strong beer but avoids the many pitfalls of American tripel versions, its not American-sweet but definitely strong. At $1.89 per 12oz bottle, I’ll probably pick this up again. Our take on a Belgian-style Tripel which has a hazy golden hue with hints of banana and clove. Spicy, woodsy hop flavors prevail upfront, giving way to a subdued sweetness in the finish.

Pours clear gold w/ a white head & sporadic lacing. The aroma contains some spice but is overtaken by a metallic scent. The taste is quite similar as the belgian spices are rather pleasant on the nose but finishes oddly w/ the metallic flavor really dampening the beer. Just ok! translucent straw, white head dies quick to ring, good lacing. Pear and apple flesh ester nose, light sugar and filling grain. Sweet overall, thin with plenty of sugar, no offensive esters but singular sweetness.
12oz bottle pours a clear gold with some hazy, white head. Nose has tropical fruit, mild candy, a little guava, a little musty/stale. Flavor has mild tropical fruit, candy, couch, mild straw. Trashy finish, sadly.

Some florals and some alcohol. Not a lot to this. Golden pour with big head. Tangy finish. Some citrus. Not great for style but drinkable as beer. Bottle. Travlr (24667) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - MAR 25, 2016
