Chocolate, coffee, and nuts. Good mix. Oatmeal gives a nice texture. Well balanced. Dark brown.
On draft at 4 Hands. The pour is a dirtier ruby color with a decent opacity and a small ring of khaki colored head. The aroma is good. There is a lot of chocolate and a nice roasted malt. It’s got a hint of bitterness on the finish that is almost reminiscent of coffee. The flavor is better. Nice chocolate depth and roasted malt complexity. Clean and crisp. 12floz BBD 06.30.2017, $9/six-pack. This beer doesn’t emit much aroma, just a little charred wood and butterscotch. It’s a dark beer, low on hoppy bitterness, but fairly high on roasted bitterness for the style. Although it is not totally traditional, it’s pretty tame for an American brown ale. Draft. Deep brown body with a beige head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of roasted malts, molasses, bread, nuts, cocoa and some light metallic. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly acidic. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly acidic. Medium body, water/slick texture, lively carbonation. Sweet to start but dries out in the finish.
