Bottle thanks to Rainer. Pours a hazy orange gold with small frothy white head. The aroma is cherry skin, funk, oak. Medium mouth with strong oak, light cherry, spice finish, decent.

Poured from a bottle dated 2014. Aroma is rather fruity with a moderately strong cherry note and some lighter tropical fruit. Some light red wine and oak notes. Faint berries and light citrus. Pours a hazy, pale orange with some pink and red hues and a medium sized, somewhat thin, white head that recedes quickly to the edges where it lingers for a bit. No lacing and small legs. Flavor is moderately acidic with quite a bit of citrus. Some medium light cherry notes and light tropical fruit. Medium light red wine and oak notes. Medium bitterness and some tannins. Finishes with a bit of acidity and some light tannins. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium light carbonation. Low astringnecy and low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer with nice fruit notes. Some good character from the wine barrels as well. Falls a bit flat on the finish. Nice, but not quite perfect. Flavor is a bit weird.

Sample @ EBF.

Appearance: Hazy golden with a small white head and little lacing.

Aroma: Quite yeast with rotten fruits, light spiciness, caramel and hints of red wine.

Taste: Rotten fruits/garbage, caramel, light spiciness, citric notes and red fruits.

Palate: Medium body. Medium carbonation. Long lasting garbage / rotten fruits finish.

Overall: I don’t know if there was a problem with their beers at EBF, but this one and their Prelude were the 2 worst beers I had at the festival and the only two with (strong) garbage and rotten fruits presence. Awful.

500 ml bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). This vintage is 6.1%. Looks good; a very hazy caramelish apricot with white head that steadily dissipates into thin lacing. Smells damp and earthy with notes of cherry and oak. A bit of spice as well. Tastes like it smells, but with less of a cherry presence. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied. Solid beer.

j12601 (13600) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - FEB 19, 2015
Pouring at EBF 2014. Pours a clear orange with a thin white head. Soft acid, popcorn, toast on the nose. Nutty buttered popcorn. A touch of acid, nutty acetone. Lingering popcorn. Tasted like buttered popcorn jelly beans.

hayduke (5757) - Eureka, California, USA - FEB 2, 2015
This was received in a trade from Doran. It poured a rich hazy pink color with a big white head with good lacing. Nose is cheery and wine barrel. Medium body and a carbonated mouth feel. Flavor is big on vanilla and cherry and the finish shows the wine barrel wood and sour cherries. Really great beer.
