Golden color, hazy, with small head. Delicate aroma, flowery (lilies), with some cereals and hay, biscuits, very light talc; not what expected, but different and intriguing.
Dry mouthfeel, but quite soft too; the malts have a nice toffee accent, with a dash of caramel and cereals, the rye gives character but doesn’t overpower it; strong bitterness; the hops provide a pleasant piney, resiny complement, while the fruity component is very mild.
Balanced, satisfactory, one of the best Rye IPAs in this, and possibly even better if fresher.
I particularly appreciate the balance and the lean biscuity soul.
22 oz. bottle, sent from xscottypx (thanks a lot, Scott), pours a hazy golden orange with a medium off-white head. Aroma brings out loads of rye, pine, and quite a bit of skunky pot notes. Flavour brings out intense soapy floral notes upfront, followed by rye notes, and a little hemp. The body is quite light and somewhat spicy, finishing on the soapy floral notes. Bottle @ Richard’s tasting. Golden orange pour with a white head. Aromas of orange, grass, and flowers. Has sort of a stale hop aroma to it. Sweet caramel malt. Bomber from Sethdude! Thanks! Pours dark, hazy, translucent gold with a not too large creamy white head. Aroma is floral and caramel. Indicates hop is dominant. Med body or better. Instant hop burn. Floral, citrus, caramel, earthy are flavors coming to mind. It’s reminding me of that odd Australian thing - lemon myrtle or something like that. Sort of grabs the mouth. Finishing hoppy, dryer than not, and nicely bitter. With time I can get tangerine. Very nice drink. Has the flavor impact of a DIPA.

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2014 Gold/amber pour. Smell is fruity with caramel. Flavor is buttery a bit, huge rye note, likedrinking liquid oatmeal with some caramel. Lighter c-hop flavors. Bottle. Pours a near clear gold with an orange hue and a white head that lasts throughout the beer and laces. Aroma has notes of citrus peel, grapefruit and a bit of resin as well as a rye backing. Draft at Capone’s. Pours dark gold toward copper with off-white clingy head. Nose is big mango, tangerine, black pepper. Tastes rich, complex on the tongue, with notes of tangerine, honey, caramel malt, mango, black pepper, and a smooth finish. Very nice.
