From notes. Enjoyed at a tasting at Abus house on February 22. 22 oz bottle. The pour is a medium to light black with a thinner light tan head that fades to a thin ring with no lace. The aroma is really good. There is a strong vanilla sweetness up front that slowly moves toward more of a vanilla bean bitterness on the back end. There is a light oak, some light roasted malts and a hint of cocoa. Its really well balanced, and I like the differentiation between sweet extract and bitter bean. The flavor is definitely more on the bitter side, but everything is just light. There isnt a strong barrel, vanilla sway, roasted malt, or chocolate like you would expect. The mouth feel is lighter and a little under carbonated. There is a lack of strong flavors, but the bitter bean definitely pops up again. This is a good beer, but the potential is there for this one to be fantastic!

Draft sampler at EBF. Poured a real good looking thick full oily pitch black body with an average to larger thick foamy mocha colored head. Aroma is great, vanilla beans, burnt chocolate, rum cake, booze. Flavor isnt quite as good, burnt cake, vanilla extract, burmt toast, and old coffee. Bigger body with strong carbonation.

Bottle pours very dark brown with minimal head. Aroma vanilla, dark chocolate. Palate a bit on the thin side and undercarbed. Taste dark chocolate and somewhat bitter vanilla, a little coconut and oak. Not much bourbon at all. Finish mild dark chocolate. Underwhelmed given the hype.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate vanilla, chocolate, and bourbon. Its a dark brown with some faint orange highlights and a small beige head that fades to a minimal film outlined by a thin ring. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate and caramel the finish has moderate vanilla, marshmallow, maple, and a touch of bourbon. Its medium bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat flat mouthfeel.

Bottle thanks to Tim. Aroma is huge vanilla bean with light bourbon and mint. Tastes pretty minty to go with the big vanilla. Distracts big time. Good chocolate and roast but cant get past the mint. No carb also.

Jet black pour with a wispy espresso colored head. Aroma of vanilla beans. Sweet bourbon aroma, man does it smell fantastic. Taste is sweet, lots of vanilla. Bourbon heat in the finish. Thin mouth. Lingering sweetness. Very tasty.
