COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An oak aged Baltic Porter where a portion had been sitting in Lark Distillery whisky barrels since December 2014. Now, blended back together, the two parts deliver a suitably warming winter brew. At 7.5 percent ABV it’s only a middleweight Baltic Porter in terms of oomph, but its time in oak ensures it delivers above its weight in terms of impact.

Bottle - two years old, shared with Barry. Thanks mate. Dark, dark brown with a small tan coloured head. Licorice, vanilla, dark chocolate and roasted malt dominate the aroma, along with subtle hints of oak and red wine. Low levels, but balancing bitterness along with the smoothness the oak aging adds. Fantastically complex beers and probably the best I’ve had from 4 Pines.

From a bottle. Lovely oak flavours with a lingering finish, truely tasty stuff, not as thick as I expected.

Bottle from Beer Cartel 161015. This is a really good beer that ticks all the boys. Big aroma and flavour with vanilla and chocolate coming through. Dark and delicious.

Bottle. Very dark brown with a tan head that fades to a coat. Aroma of roasted malt, licorice, earth, vanilla, red wine. Moderate sweetness with chocolate, vanilla, licorice. Some bitterness, quite a bit oak, not as vinous as suggested by the aroma. Lacks a bit of a bottom end, but complex and harmonious.

Maris (1624) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - SEP 17, 2015
From a 500ml bottle on 17/9/2015. Pours a deep brown with a small head. The nose is very oaky, with some red wine and a bit of chocolate. Taste wise, the chocolate dominates, with some dark fruit and sharpish vinous and oak notes presenting in the background. The palate is slick and the carbonation soft. A pretty good Baltic porter.

Bottle from greenslopes cellars Brisbane, bitter coffee aromas, lovely woody and burnt flavours, very rich and moorish, the 7.5 abv is well hidden in this very tasty brew, well done

Pours dark brown with a big bubble head that quickly disappears. Hints of vanilla on the nose. Quite a complex flavour with malt sweetness, vanilla then quickly checked by bitterness and a hint of alcohol but not overpowering. Well balanced overall ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
