330ml bottle. Poured a ruddy dark brown with a large, dense and mostly lasting orange-hued mid-brown head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, roasted malts and dark, dried fruits. Flavours of dark chocolate, coffee and roasted malts balanced by a dark fruit tang all with a bitter ashiness towards the finish. Medium-ish body with medium, drying carbonation and an enduring malt-bitter finish.

Pretty solid India black ale. A little thin wit the roasted malts and even the hops are a little subdued but it works. Full mouth feel with no nasty lingering flavours. One if the best black IPAs I've tried so far

UPDATED: JUL 20, 2016 Draught at Archive Beer Boutique, West End. On nitro tap. Poured an opaque black with a one-finger dense foam head that took ages to settle out then retained very well and laced as a thick coating on the ide of the glass - very nice looking. Carbonation low and fine. Aroma subtly of roasted grain and with slight sweetness; a bit ordinary. Taste initially of moderately strong roasted grain, a slight sweetness, and slight coffee bitterness; nice flavours all round. Heavy body. Very smooth, very creamy, slightly dry, slightly sweet and with a short slightly coffee bitterness on the finish. Good! BB 3/FEB/15. Poured an opaque black with a mahogany edge tint. Had a 5mm light tan foamy head that retained poorly and laced OK. Carbonation low. Aroma slightly of roasted grain, a trace earthy and with slight sweetness; a bit ordinary. Taste strongly of roasted grain, a trace of smoke, a hint of sweetness, and slight bitterness; good flavour. Medium body, a bit thin for a stout. Dry with slight sweetness, slight smoke, and roasted grain bitterness on finish.

coffee, roasty, chocolate, earthy, basement aromas, smoke, black, cloudy, minimal head, lightly bitter, medium sweetness, medium body, slick feel, soft carbonation, long finish, I am a stout fan, this one ticks many boxes for me.

Pours dark brown with a tan head. Very sweet aromas of chocolate, roasted malt, caramel and slight fruity sweetness that was unexpected. There is nice level of carbonation that has nice mouthfeel. Flavour also has some roasted nuts, malt and dark cocoa. Some excellent complexity.

Bottle. This was a bit over carbonated, which is strange given it’s space credentials, so I may have had a dud. Flavour was quite nice, so I’ll have to try again.

I really like this beer and would get it again given the chance. It has a very smooth flavor.

A reasonable stout with the right amount of bitterness for this style, but poor head retention lets it down.

Craft Clerkenwell. Bottle thanks to big Dave’s antipodean haul. Cheers mate. Opaque black brown beer, good tan head. Palate is light and airy. Semi dry. Slightly tangy dark malts. Whisper of candy fruits and violets. Light dry finish. Interesting if a bit thin.
