This is a bigger, bolder version of our mainstay Pecan Porter, with a richer finish. Two months on recently emptied Jack Daniels select barrels imparted a wonderful vanilla character from the oak and a pleasant amount of whiskey nose and flavor.

On tap at (512), pours jet black with a small tan head. Aroma is rich, with loads of rich toasted pecans, perfect contribution of the whiskey barrels, and caramelized brown sugar. Flavour is deep and complex, with deep whiskey barrel character, followed by toasted pecans, and light brown sugar. Dry and nutty, with a wonderful whiskey character. Lovely.

Tap at The Brass Tap, Austin. Dark black color, small beige head. Light toasted aroma with hints of whiskey. Medium-bodied to full-bodied. Toasted, vanilla, whiskey, smooth, a bit sweetish. Interesting. And good.

Draft. Clear dark brown body with minimal off-white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, whiskey, some caramel, light chocolate. Taste is sweet whiskey, caramel, some nut, milk chocolate. Sticky medium-full body, minimal carbonation.

Shared 25.4 oz. bottle. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of booze. Taste is booze and oak with faint roasted malt and chocolate. No pecan noted. The barrel pretty much wiped out almost all traces of the original brew, which I easily prefer over this. Disappointing.

Aroma: definitely more oak than whiskey; Appearance: pitch black with tan head that dissipates slowly; Taste: bitter and oaky, without much subtley; Palate: heavy body with short finish; Overall: not nearly as smooth and flavorful as expected.

On tap at Bangers. Dull pour and mild aroma, but wait for it....huge taste and lingering warmth. Nutty, sweet, woody. All comes together quite nicely. Drinkable, but sip slowly, and savor....

(En fût au Whip In): Pas de retenu sur vanille dans celle-là. L’aspect mix nuts navigue très bien dans la marre chocolatée. Superbe.

beastmaster (381) - Florida, USA - DEC 11, 2015
Pour is dark a with a tan rootbeer top head. Aroma is toffe, whiskey, sugar, licorice, brown sugar, pecan. Sweet syrupy goodness. I need more.

fiveacestx (977) - Texas, USA - DEC 7, 2015
Bomber - Dark coffee color with a tan head. The aroma of bourbon is definitely there. An aroma and taste of pecans and coffee and also a taste of vanilla and wood. Medium body. Boozy.

Cnesta (40) - grand prairie, Texas, USA - NOV 25, 2015
Bomber bottle. Poured great with creamy head that did not persist long. Black in color no apparent haze. Aroma mostly of chocolate flavor was also mostly chocolate with a hint of vanilla bourbon. As it warmed more of a coffee flavor was aroused. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
