Bottle from Percy’s in Juneau. The guy working the store tried to get me to buy some funky brett stuff. So glad I didn’t listen. Wow - just wow. This is classic Michael Jackson style best beers of the world stuff. Nose is rich and complex - not fake smoke, real deep notes of smoke. Umami everywhere in the taste, so rich and satisfying. Finishes very clean - IMO up there with some of the best rauchbiers I’ve had from Germany.Incredible that a small AK microbrewery is doing this! bhensonb (15861) - Woodland, California, USA - SEP 10, 2016
Tap at the brewpub. Pours very dark brown; slight head. Smoky aroma. Med + body. Flavor is very dark toffee and smoky. Just a hint of hop. Just a mildly sweet. Just excellent. deyholla (12463) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUL 17, 2016
Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours a clear copper with a light yellow brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a nice smoke note with some sweet grains and a bit of hickory. Flavor has that same nice smoke note with a decent amount of hickory and a sweet grain backbone.

Bottle courtesy of SHIG. Cheers, Shawn! Pours an amber red with an off-tan head. Nose is campfire, bandaid, some toast and dry yeast. Flavor is nice toasted malt with lager, smoke, bandaid, and a nice malt character tying it all together. Light to medium in body and delicious for a smoked beer, especially a smoked lager. Tasting at Eugene’s; 5.7% ABV Ibrew2or3 (8860) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - MAR 11, 2016
Dark amber color, medium sized head. Smokey and meaty aroma, fresh. Nice flavor, but quite shallow; mellow and moderately smoked; low bitterness.
22oz bomber, courtesy of SHIG, thanks Shawn, pours with a clear mahogany colored body that supports a thin tan head. The aroma offers up smooth soft meaty smokiness flowing into caramel malts, thin roasted malts and a sense of dark fruity esters. The taste delivers a blend of sweet malts, caramel like malts and then smooth soft alderwood like smokiness. It gets a little mineral like toward the finish amid the malts and smookiness. Solid brew that creates a pleasing balance. phaleslu (10750) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 5, 2016
Bottle that I think SHIG left behind at RBWG 2016, so we opened it the last night at the Hyatt lobby fart share. Pours a clear deep orange with a small off-white head that settles into a ring and film while leaving ropes of lace in the glass. Big hickory smoked malts throughout, with leaves, toast, and muddled fruits. Light-bodied, with a smooth, smoky mouthfeel and low carbonation. Decent smoked beer.
