After my first experience with this brewery, I was not impressed with their Home Sweet Home. Maybe I was expecting too much from their description. This one though, so far is quite the opposite. Hazy golden-amber with a huge head that stays way long with the tiny bubble carbonation that is quite active. Thick foamy lace. Spicy herbal nose that pleases me well. The taste has a nice sweetness, but well-balanced with the hops and basil. A little dry mouthfeel. Can't believe this is a light beer (4.2% ABV). Wow, I quite like this one. You had me at Basil.

(Tap) clear, bright yellow orange amber with a small tan head; faint aroma of herbs, berry; creamy palate; balanced flavour with a long, light bitter finish

Pours amber with a thin film of foam. Aroma is caramel, herbs and basil. Taste is slightly sweet with mild notes of grainy malt, caramel and, obviously, herbs. Although it’s a hoppy herbal. The basil doesn’t really come through right away but slowly builds. Medium bodied with low carbonation. It has the characteristic malt of other 5 paddles brews. All in all, interesting and enjoyable, but definitely not something I could drink all the time.

Spab (4422) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 1, 2017
650 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a clear orange colour with good-sized, creamy off-white head. Aroma is basil, caramel and grains. Flavour has solid but not overpowering basil, bread, caramel and light herbs. Slick mouthfeel. I had my doubts but this was pretty good.

mikkopen (1204) - Guelph, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 26, 2017
650 ml bottle. Clear amber colour, thin off-white head. Sweetish malty aroma with herbal and biscuit elements. The flavour is bready-malty, sweetish, with a clear note of basil and a moderately bitter herbal hoppy finish. Refreshing.

Bottle from the lcbo. Slightly hazy copper, with a large white head. Basil is soft but up front. Hints of piney hops and some crackery malts. Mouthfeel was soft, carb is the same. Finish is herbal, nice basil finish with a medium bitterness. I enjoyed this, soft and very quaffable.

Crisp. Tastes like basil. Definitely interesting and not bad, so long as you like basil in your beer.

Pours hazy orange copper with a thin white head. Sweet malt and herbs aroma. Basil taste with a nice bitter finish. Good clean crisp beer.

Draft - Sweet grassy herbal notes. Clear gold with a decent white head. Lots of herbal notes, mild basil and malts. Basil is a bit lost in the herbal bitterness. Could be ’fresher’,

650ml bottle from the brewery in Whitby, Ontario. Copper in colour with thin white head, light lacing. The aroma is lightly spicy, some malt sweetness, herbal. The flavour is herbal, lightly bitter, pale malts, bready. Finishes long, sweet, some bitterness.
