Pours amber with decent head. Aroma is floral spices with vanilla and pine undertones. Taste brings out doughy malt and an almost zesty bitterness. Smooth dry finish. Better than I was expecting. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - JUN 15, 2012
Draft on tap at Bad Apple (Chicago, IL). Stopped in after picking up a bunch of Half Acre stuff for trades and drinking because I saw this bad boy was here. Pours a rich orange amber hue with healthy glow, deeper coloring, orange and copper and some fiery deep sunset. A touch dulled with frothy brighter white head that dies to a film, laces ok overall. Aromas are a bit muddled with touches of grass, bread, pale malts. A gentle earthy element grows, lively touch of cactus, faint lime, grass, peppery spice, earth, herbal quality dance in as it warms and breathes a bit more. Mellow touch of citrus. Initial is fairly interesting, offering lighter end of medium bodied on the palate with a touch of girth. Touches of bready malts, cereal grains, distinct earthy and lime element, rind, touch of brush, bitter dryness, gentle spice earthy pepper quality. Middle shows a touch of toast, growing dryness and a distinct biscuity malt sweetness. Moves back into a dry, earthy, and gentle spicy backend and finish. Earth, grass, brush and mellow spice, citrusy lime rind. A fairly unique experience with a good dryness and earthy quality up front, moving into that distinct malty middle and quickly out again into the finish, firm dry and bitter qualities, earthy spice and herbal qualities. Seems quite well constructed as an experience. HonkeyBra (4044) - Lemont, Illinois, USA - FEB 3, 2013
12 oz. bottle. Aroma of juniper, grass, spice, mild smoke, some pepper, some earth. Definitely a different smell. Lots of pine and floral notes as well. Flavor of grass, pine, strong juniper. Very earthy. This is a quite different ale. It’s nice, though. Medium body, lively carbonation. This is certainly different. Interesting stuff here, guys. Spicy, hoppy, yet quite soothing with an almost chamomile like quality. But the bigger question is how does an obscure local like this end up on the list at the Airport Hilton with the big boys? Christpuncher (3191) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 30, 2014
This is not a good beer I hate 5 rabbit anything. Herb vega stand beer sucks. Smells like radishes. Had at jose house.

Slightly cloudy amber with a large, frothy, vanilla head.
Peppery, citrus aroma.
Flavour is a strange, creamy blend of herbs, spice, grass and citrics...
Different, but very tasty. jstraw (1967) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 23, 2012
Copper with creamy, off-white head / Nose of pine, burnt sugar, and herb / Light body, some sweetness and hoppy, a hint watery with only mild bite, and bitter finish / Bright flavors of cut pine, burnt sugar, juniper, and sage, with notes of orange and grapefruit / A pleasant, easy drinker. novels (424) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 29, 2013
Had this again recently and it’s actually much better than I remember. Definitely tastes a bit like I’d imagine a campfire would- woody, herbal, some heat on the back. Juniper and sage prevail, with a nice balance between booze, herbs, and carbonation. Enjoyed. Cornfield (5569) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - JUL 3, 2014
From the bottle this pours a somewhat hazy amber body topped by a combination creamy/rocky eggshell head... a well sustained head at that. In the aroma, the hops are secondary to the spices and herbs, the blending giving a dry grassiness, pine, some floral, and a light dab of citrus. The malt, soft caramel, gives a good base on which to merge all the interesting tastes from the complex (but not heavy handed) mixture of spices, herbs, and hops that works in a peculiarly satisfying way. The finish is dry and spicy. This is a well developed and carefully brewed beer that will assuredly be repeated. csaso (2315) - Missouri, USA - AUG 5, 2014
Bottle - good size foamy head, hazy dark copper color, good size tart tropical fruit like (not exactly sure how to describe it) hop aroma and flavor, fair malt backbone - pretty good overall and a little different (in a good way)
