onceblind (9663) - Denver, Colorado, USA - SEP 10, 2016
Deep nutty Amber hue with a thin light beige head that gives a nice earthy and slightly caramelly nose with a hint of peppery tones. Crisp and mellow flavor that’s smooth and caramelly, a touch leafy and earthy, just a whisper of pepper head and a full bready/toast finish.

czar (9066) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 16, 2015
sample at mondial de la bière 2015 - mtl. unclear dark golden with a small off-white cap, some retention and lacing. spicy burnt caramel maltiness, spicy chilies - fresh but still leaving a vegetal matter taste; lightly smoked red berries, salt and other minerals. light carbonation, light body, semi-sweet spicy chili-tingling finish. not chili overdone but unilayered burnt caramel. o-k.

b3shine (8873) - Indiana, USA - JUL 23, 2012
Draft to pint. Looks decent; dark brown with thin white lacing. Smells a little skunky and metallic. Tastes like it smells but better with some bitterness. Mouthful is average. Good...for how cheap it is.

4/30/17. 12oz bottle from ABC. Rich dark amber pour with a nice khaki head. Malty aroma, caramel, some pepper. Malty flavor, caramel, smokey, mild pepper. Reminds of like a peppery doppelbock or something.

PorterPounder (7968) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - DEC 5, 2014
Tallahassee, Fl - New Leaf Market - 12 oz bottle. Pours a lazy dark brown, little to no head. Aroma has some interesting earthy notes with some peppers and topsoil. Flavor is earthy as well with some bittersweet baker’s chocolate, some peppery accents, a touch of day old black coffee. Mouthfeel has a decent thickness to it. Not half bad.

(Rating #6403)

FROTHINGSLOSH (7796) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 23, 2012
From the July 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark nut brown color with a huge foamy beige head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was malty and nutty with a hot pepper presence. The flavor was tangy, malty and a touch skunky with notes of nut and hot peppers. The finish was medium length tangy, nutty and hot pepper. Medium body. Odd.

Ernest (7695) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAY 11, 2015
Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (chocolate syrup, caramel), with a note of vanilla, hint of cherry. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. A very simple, flabby/watery, sugary porter. No apparent heat (or odor) from the chiles.

Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 5, 2012
Bottled. Poured deep garnety-amber with a tall, creamy, well-retained eggshell head. The aroma picked up toasted biscuits and rye bread with accents of sweet cocoa and toasty chiles.. too much sugar in the end for me. The flavor found sweet caramel and lesser cocoa at the core with toasted chilis and vanilla around.. finished with a pinch of peppers and raw, earthy sugar. Light-medium bodied and sweet on the palate.. the chilis helped interesting it up, but it was far from great.
