12 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with a deep amber glare and a small tan head. Aroma is toasted malty. Caramelish. Sweet, breadish and light metallic. Toasted and caramelish finish.
Sampler at Mondial de la Biere in Montreal. Cloudy brown body, small white head. Aroma of roasted malt, prunes, chocolate, light smokiness. Taste of brown sugar, prunes, chocolate, burned caramel. Where’s the heat? youdictategood (467) - Florida, USA - SEP 14, 2015
Single bottle from mix pack. Pours a hazy reddish-brown, very thin, soapy head. Aroma of chocolate, yeast, a little vanilla extract. Flavor is very sweet up front, but backs off to something a little more balanced. Pepper component is there in taste, but doesn’t add any spice. Approach it like a brown ale and you’ll probably enjoy it. NobleSquirrel (3438) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 6, 2011
Draft at Maria’s Party. I’ve been waiting months to try this and was sadly underwhelmed. Pours a reddish brown, clear, with minimal head that dissipates. Nose is lightly sweet, faint cocoa and just a hint of smoke. On taste, flavors are quite subtle. Slight warming, light smokey chiles. It could really use more depth of flavor here as it just seems undwhelming. Okay, but far from great.

On tap at Fountainhead. Pours dark murky brown with small head. Aromas of chocolate and caramel with some faint spices. Flavors of caramel, dark malts, chocolate, some earthy spices. Did not really pick up any of the heat or smoke I was hoping for. Bit disappointing. IanIPA (20) - Tinley Park, Illinois, USA - JAN 5, 2012
Poured from 12 oz into shaker. Color was brown amber with a tan head. Aroma was caramel with the hint of spice that it was brewed with. Taste was malty follow with the chili spice but not over powering. The flavors are very balanced. The adds a nice zing but overall the beer is neither exciting or thrilling DocLock (10702) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 2, 2012
Bottle from Capone’s. Pours clear dark brown with ruby edges and a 2-finger tan head. Nose is brown sugary malt, mild hops, earthiness, nuts. Tastes malty, with hops, vinous fruit, earthy chile as it warms. Unique, and the peppers emerge more late, and work pretty well with this. Lubiere (13915) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 2, 2012
A copper brown ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, a sweet solventy caramel malt with light molasses notes, In mouth, a nutty metallic malt with light vegetable sugar, some light alcohol hotness, honey and burned sugar. On tap at Mash Tun Festival, May 19 2011. crossovert (12934) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 4, 2012
Decent dark ale. Anchos are mild, add a nice fruity and dark tone. Not terrible.
