COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
HopGasm is Brewmaster Kevin McNerney’s innaugural release at 5 Seasons. HopGasm is a west coast India Pale Ale, bold in every sense. It invites you with a nose far more intruiging than most IPAs. We use 5 different hops, including Simcoe and Amarillo, which gives an incredibly rich bouquet and a pleasurable mouthfeel. It’s a bit over 7% ABV, but a solid malt backbone and a sumptuous aftertaste will make you want multiple HopGasms.

chinchill (4987) - South Carolina, USA - JAN 25, 2016
UPDATED: APR 2, 2016 {From May 2011 notes & April 2016 pint}. Made with 5 hops including Simcoe and Amarillo. A clear dark amber with a creamy tan head; head has good retention. Aroma- very hoppy with citrus, floral and pine notes. T - hidden in the aroma, this IPA has a strong malt base lending a richer and less bitter flavor. Hops still dominate, especially in the nice long-lasting finish. M - Smooth; (too?) light carbonation O - despite ample malt, still recommended for hopheads.

Draft - big sweet grapefruit and pine. Clear copper with a good white head. Lots of pine, then grapefruit and a sweet caramel finish. Definitely well balanced and on the malty side with a longer resinous finish.

Beautiful golden color. On draft at the restaurant. Perfect balance of hops, not overpowering. Smooth finish!

jbruner (4734) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - DEC 2, 2013
Pours a dark golden brown on tap with thin white head that leaves moderate lacing. Aroma is nice citrus and pine hop notes up front, definitely lots of simcoe. Taste is more balanced between the malt and hops, bready grain with the simcoe. Clean finish with no booze or real bitterness. Solid, nicely done.

GTAEgeek (2217) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - JUN 29, 2013
On tap at the brewpub. Dark amber color, with a small, beige head. Big floral and citrusy hops, light caramel, and apples. The flavor is very bitter, with a pretty good malt backbone. Medium to heavy body. The mouthfeel is lightly acidic and a little watery. Overall, this is a nicely hopped beer, but the palate is lacking.

Farther’s Day lunch - 2013 - on tap at their Prado location. Dark copper pour, silky off-white head, nice lacing. Fresh fragrant spruce aroma with some fresh spearmint hints. Flavor has some nice caramel maltiness, bittersweet grapefruit fruitness, some nutty notes in the back end. Thick rich mouthfeel. Outstanding.

Nice, hoppy IPA without burning your taste buds. I'd definitely order it again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
