On tap at the brewpub. Dark brown, with a medium, beige head, and nice lacing. Good nose of black bread, anise, peat, orange zest, cardamom. Sweet, with a light bitterness, and a good savory spice. served in a tulip glass at the brewpub. Near black color with a very thin but rather durable tan head thaat leaves nice lacing. Has a subtle dak fruit nose with some grain coming through and giving the aroma of fruity baked bread.
The favor is a bit too sweet; not smoky; hints of wine (rose?), spices and dark fruits. With a bit of warming, the flavor got better. Good carbonation level.
O - a very odd but tasty "Scotch Ale"; similar to what I’d expect from a Belgian brewery making this style of ale. High ABV fairs well in both flavor (blends well) and aroma (largely hidden).
