Ours is a traditional German-style Wheat Beer. We use German wheat, German barley and German hops.
It is gold in color and has a soft, smooth malt character. We also use a German yeast specifically cultivated for this style of beer. It imparts extremely interesting flavors of banana, clove and spice. It is unfiltered and, therefore, cloudy as is traditional.
Sgt. Schultz may know nothing except that this is a great beer for our hot days of spring and summer.

On tap at the brewpub. An odd hefe, for me at least, in that it smells not just better than average for style, but a bit better than it tastes. The feel may be the low point as this is thin to the point of watery, partly doe to a somewhat low carbonation level. Mild for style, with a rather bready aftertaste rather than just bananas and clove.

Comes out of the tap hazy hay-golden with a fairly thick eggshell head. Strong, wheaty aroma has firm citrus and yeasty undertones plus a hint of malt. Flavor trots wheat, citrus and malt notes across the palate, with malt and a bit of hops in the background. Texture is fairly firm, smooth yet lively. You dont have to know much to appreciate a good Hefe.

Great, estery banana aroma. Cloudy tannish gold. Paper and spice flavor. Alcohol is not well-hidden. Medium-light body. Under-carbonated. Bittering starts to show through at the very end.

Appearance: Cloudy, golden body with a small, white head. Smell: Wheaty aroma with all of the accompanying notes of banana and spices. Taste: Malted wheat with a sharp tanginess but only a light sweetness. Strong flavors of banana, clove, and coriander. Spicy Noble hops, lightly bitter. Finishes dry with a lingering taste of toasted bananas. Mouthfeel: Medium-low body. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Oh, it’s a hefe alright!

Tap @ 5 North. Poured a hazy yellow color with a large white head. Clove and light banana with a hint of lemon make up the aroma. The flavor was malty with banana and lemony wheat notes. Mild clove on the finish with a light body.

bigger body and more sweetness, the extra sweetness brings out more of the banana to balance the clove, even a bit more banana in the aroma creates the needed balance there, overall a very nice improvement over the original batch

very much like the second batch in 2007 with the big banana sweetness,

On tap at the brewpub in Alpharetta - cloudy, murky medium golden pour with a crisp, yet fluffy white head. Clean, fragrant estery aroma, cloves, bubblegu - there are in there. Flavor of bananas, but not contrived - nice and natural. Extremely thick mouthfeel for a Hefe. Overall, an excellent Hefe - the North branch seems to be on the same high level as their original.

I wish this had more head, but that could be a sympton of the sample pour. The full hefeweizen glass pour that I saw after making my rating certainly had plenty of head and it lasted. Cloudy yellow. Great banana aroma. Good wheat underneath. The only problem I had with the beer is the flavor is almost too sweet.
