COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is an American style IPA. India Pale Ale originated when English breweries were contracted to supply ales to the British troops in India, in the 19th Century. They were brewed to a slightly higher gravity than local London Ales and then allowed to mature shipboard, en route to India. A dose of fresh hops was added to each barrel (a process called “dry-hopping”), to protect the brew from spoilage and increase shelf-life, as hops are a natural preservative. Unlike most military ration, IPAs really caught on in popularity with the troops who began to demand it in local pubs, upon their return home. American IPA is hopped a little more generously than its British cousin, with our more aromatic American hop varieties. Ours is brewed with American, German, Belgian and English specialty malts and then liberally dry-hopped with a blend of Cascade and Columbus hops, from the Yakima Valley. This gives it a nice, bright, citrus, floral aroma.

Pours golden orange with a moderately fluffy off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit, citrus, very identifiable as Cascades. Taste is fruity with the typical ctirus and pine resin tates, but there’s also a pleasant mango notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, slightly sticky and resinous. Nicely hopped, not at all overwhelming but there is pletny of sticky citrus and pine cones.

This beer poured a nice amber color. Flavor was CITRUS FRUIT. A mix of grapefruit, lemon, oranges, tangarines. A little overdone IMO but it all seemed to blend well with the mild hops. A refreshing IPA.

Draft atm. Amber gold pour. Big citrus / piney nose. Mostly huge hoppy flavors - ctirusy and a somne of the rind of citrus fruit. Sweet malty flavors too, though I would like to see a little more malt to back up the huge amount of hops here. Very big bitter finish. Unbalanced - needs some more malt for me, but if you are a hophead, you will love it.

Hazy, honey amber. Buttery, citrus aroma. Flavor is buttery, piney, dry and doughy. Pasty body. A little chemical. Carraway or rye elements. Clean western hops on the backend.

On tap at the brewpub. Not too shabby for a pub IPA. Translucent gold pour...minimal whitish head. Lotsa floral hoppiness in the nose...piney too. Flavor follows suit...nice citrusy hop bitterness...decent malt balance. Fairly full bodied. A tasty drink.

On draught from keg rented direct from brewery. Pours a light orange with about 2 to 4 fingers of crown with good retention. Aroma is extremely floral and full of pine tones and some citrus hop notes. Flavour is well-balanced, with some hop bitterness but a nice fruity sweetness. Mouthfeel is medium with some mild carbonation and a slight stickiness. Malt doesn’t stand out, but maybe that’s what provides such a well-balanced tasting beer. Not overwhelmingly hopped, but a wonderful beer to have with fish or other delicate meat. Also a great session beer for me.

Had on tap at the brewpub in June of 2006: Pours a slightly hazy copper orange with nicely-lacing frothy white head. Aroma of fresh piny earthy hops and some hints of sweet caramel malt. Body starts bittersweet with lots of fresh pine and grapefruity bittering hoppy presence before a drier crisp finish. A nice IPA.

On tap at the brewpub in the ATL. Find this to be a nice solid brewpub IPA. Light orange in appearance, white sticky head with decent lacing. Slight citrusy faint floral notes in the aroma, hint of spruce. Bit of a a grapefruity citrus flavor. Not over the top. Pleasant thick mouthfeel - finishes strong.
