Big O is an organic version of the traditional English Strong Ale style. While not at the high end of this style in alcohol content, it boasts a respectable 6.8% ABV. It has a bracing hop bitterness balanced by mild alcohol warmth and a rich roasted malt character. New Zealand Pacific Gem Organic Hops were used for bittering with English Organic East Kent Goldings and Organic Cascade Hops from the Pacific Northwest provide hop flavor and a very mild earthy and citrus hop aroma. An ample amount of dark roasted malt of English and Belgian style (all organically grown) give this brew a deep color and slight toffee and coffe-like finish. This is definitely a brew to be savored with good food.

Sampled on tap on 8/3/06: Pours a transparent mahogany dark copper with a thin wispy white head. Aroma has a sweet toasty earthy caramel maltiness with some floral hops and baked sugar cookie character. Body starts with an earthy sweet bready dark caramel maltiness and some earthy piny bittering hops. Nicely balanced and unique.

This draft brew from the brewery poured a small sized head of finely sized off-white colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a transparent softly carbonated and a very good lacing. The aroma was a malty old ale like one. The mildly vinous smooth mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish. The old ale flavor contained notes of malt mild hops and vinous. A decent one that I would consider buying again.

A nice strong ale with a beautiful dark amber-brown color and a strong hoppy smell. Taste is rich and hoppy, with smoky undertones and just a tad of bitterness. It feels smooth in the mouth and when going down the hatch. I have yet to be disappointed by any offering at 5 Seasons, and this met my expectations of their excellent brews.

Draft @ 5 Seasons Brewing Company. Small tan head that mostly diminished, transparent reddish orange body with no visible carbonation, and spotty amounts of lacing. Malty, bitter and citrus hops, and toffee aroma. The flavor mimicked the aroma along with being earthy, hints of coffee and some alcohol warming. A smooth mouthfeel and light bodied. Overall, an easy-to-drink beer, but I just could not get into the taste of this beer.

This has a light, clean maltiness with a touch of peppery hops. It pours a dark tea color. This isnt all that interesting of a beer, but it is quite refreshing. Seems like itd be a great summer beer for hanging out.

on draught. Big O pours a deep blood red with a slowly fading white head. The aroma is strongly of roses accented by brighter citrus notes. Theres a very complex, deep flavor, but Im not diggin the leathery notes in it. On the upside, theres plenty of tasty woody notes, bright hops, earth, pine, some peach, and a fine toffee foundation. Pretty unique brew.

Pours dark reddish amber with a mostly receding tan head. Aroma of toffee, pine, hops, toasted grain, and raisin. Taste is grainy, toffee, plums with dark Belgian malts. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and slighty sticky with moderate carbonation. Not too strong, but the dark malts threw this one off for me.
