Itís not to any particular style. But floor-malted Maris Otter, some chocolate malt, and some roasted barley. I got some peat from Ireland and smoked some malt on our Big Green Egg. (That is The Beast.) Then aged The Beast in some Jack Danielís barrels for many moons and conditioned it with an Abbey yeast. This one will be around off and on for many years and should age rather nicely.

Appearance: Pours a murky, dark brown body, with a three-inch-high, lofty, airy, tan-hued head.

Smell: An initial impression of spiced chocolate fast followed by a strong dark fruitiness and sweet-scented, heavy treacle element. Moderate Tennessee whiskey scents throughout.

Taste: Roast bucked and edged by a strong dark fruitiness of succulently ripe plums and figs (also some muddled ínana and pear). A bit sweet. Pinch of ground spices with an earthy tone to them. Integrated Jack Danielís character that emboldens into the finish and warming choco-spice aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium-high carbonation.

Overall: Itís nice, for a barrel-aged Belgian... thing.

750ml bottle corked and caged poured a dark brown color with aromas of light peat, chocolate, dark pitted fruit, and bourbon. Flavors were a mixture of chocolate/caramel goodness followed by bourbon soaked figs. This was a very nice beer, glad I got to try it.

Bottle from GAManiac. Huge thanks, Grant! Deepest of brown pour with tannish-brown head. Moderate to high level of carbonation. Nose is a nice, soft peat smokiness with light bourbon, caramel, fig, chocolate, and faint oak/coconut. Some booze. Flavor is chocolate and light roasted malt with bourbon, light vanilla, coconut, and mild dark fruit esters. Faint background smokiness. Relatively dry with lingering chocolate roast mild bourbon. This one was nice. It has a lot of nice qualities in moderate amounts - not one aspect over-powering. Nice Belgian, stout, smoke, and barrel aspects.
