On tap at the brewpub. Dark walnut, creamy mocha head. Roast, coffee and chocolate nose. Taste is semisweet transitioning to a pleasantly bitter finish. Somewhat dry. Creamy full body, but a crispness to the carbonation. Event stout. kp (10880) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - FEB 25, 2012

Name: Octaine Espresso Brown
Date: January 05, 2012
Source: Ale Atlanta
Appearance: opaque dark brown, fine tan head, bits of lace
Aroma: dry roasted coffee aroma, light chocolate
Flavor: rich roasted flavor, touch of chocolate, plenty of coffee, balancing sweetness brings out more of the chocolate
Overall: lots of coffee but not so strong as to cover up the brown ale base beer
Aroma: 6/10; Appearance: 7/10; Flavor: 6/10; Palate: 6/10; Overall: 12/20
Score: ** /4
Appearance: Delivered to the table a very dark brown body with a very thin, beige head.
Smell: A noted robust espresso note atop a nutty-scented, roasty mix of malts with a sliver of baker’s chocolate.
Taste: Smooth espresso with ground up toasty bread crusts and a light, ineffectual chocolate accent. Low sweetness overall. Mildly leafy hops, low bitterness. Dry, roasty (both from the malts and espresso) finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Lightly carbonated.
Overall: Pretty good!
