Appearance: Pours a very dark brown, near black body with a slim, beige head.

Smell: Roast, light toast, and chocolate on the nose, with a small hint of ashen ashiness. Slight hint of prune. Little implied touch of the pending alcohol consumption.
Taste: Sharp, snappy roastiness glazed in a coating of semi-sweet chocolate. Standard dark fruitiness. Basic, subtle hop character and bitterness. Elevated sweetish chocolate on the roasty, warming finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation, surprisingly lively.
Overall: Paired surprisingly well with the Lisa Loeb song "Stay" accidentally (I think) stuck on repeat.
Pours a deep sable just a whisker above jet black with a nice tan head. Smoky aroma has molasses, caramel, cloves and nutty notes. Bold flavor rolls woody, malty, nutty, toffee, molasses, semi-sweet chocolate and horehound notes across the palate. Each sip seems just a little different. Mouthfeel, though, seems a tad thin and lacking in fizz. We’ll, if the texture is the weakest aspect, big deal. Storm this, beer trooper! Draft at the source. Black color, brown head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of burnt espresso, vanilla, bitter cocoa. Taste is big and roasty espresso, bitter chocolate, pepper. Really good stuff.
