On tap at Jester King. Pours a cloudy dark brown with medium beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong roast, vanilla, molasses, candy sugar. Medium body, cocoa, roast, vanilla, candy sugar, very good. dfinney23 (3424) - Houston, Texas, USA - AUG 28, 2014
Sounds like a dessert but isn’t as sweet as I would have guessed, a little like baklava. Also darker that I would have guessed, with some chocolatey malt. Travlr (26070) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - AUG 10, 2014
Draft. Hazy brown color, bright tan head. Aroma of nutty vanilla and nutella, very nice. Taste is cocoa and hazelnuts, a winner. rougeau13 (3188) - Richmond, Texas, USA - MAY 11, 2014
Clear, really dark brown with an off-white head. Aroma of cocoa, pecans, vanilla, and toast. Rather plain toasty brown ale-almost cola like-taste that lacks a little in varied character. Medium bodied. Decent, but it’s kind of like drinking semi-flat, not very sweet, cola. thirdeye11 (6162) - Dallas, Texas, USA - APR 16, 2014
(750ml bottle) clear medium brown, wispy offwhite bubbles. Nose of pecan, cream, brown/cane sugar, herbal, big vanilla, biscotti cookies. Taste of caramel, vanilla, pudding, cream, smooth body, soft, natural carbonation. Very root beer and cola-like.

5 Stones is yet to put out a brew I totally love. This pecan ale is no exception. Dark molasses hue. Thin head. Espresso flavor. I detected little to no pecan. A bit bitter, performs more like a simple porter. The taste seems all too familiar. It is alright. I do like the inspiration behind the beer. It needs more sweetness and a dedication to a roasted sensibility. Beerenberger (1605) - Fischer, Texas, USA - MAR 30, 2014
Aroma of honey, and toasted malts, with a hnt of nuts and a suggestion dark fruit. A ruby tinted maghogny pour with an off-white ring and no lacing. Rich roasted malts, nuts, vanilla, and honey. Medium body and a slightly fizzy carbonatin. Overall, very well crafted with many compatable flavors in the mix. Nicely done z5 Stones. Bottle - Dark malts, honey and pecan. Jet brown with a thin head. Honey and dark malts with the nuts peeking through. Not cloying sweet and a nice finish. Really good, likely the best honey inspired beer i have had.
