Sample at the Draught House brewpub. Brownish-amber pour with a medium thin light beige head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and caramel. Light to medium body with flavors of bready malt, caramel and earthy hops. The finish is short and malty. Decent Altbier overall.
Tap at Draught House. Old hop moth ball aroma. Great appearance. Bitterness is a bit harsh but not spalt like. Lacks maltiness. Palate is a bit harsh. Messy overall. Not at all like an alt. Marheb (5717) - San Diego, California, USA - FEB 8, 2016
(En fût au Whip In): Un petit biscuit grillé mélasse, érable et noix suivi d’un tourbillon d’agrumes évanouies. Belle surprise. altonbrownd (5898) - Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA - OCT 22, 2015
On tap at Onion Creek. Nice amber body with medium head. Nose is hops, and skunk and spices. Taste is maltier with caramel and malts and some hops and citrus. Funkier in the finish. kevinator (2176) - The Colony, Texas, USA - SEP 29, 2015
Nice malty aroma with a woody sense. Pretty copper color. Light weight but full. Sharp malt but crisp with a small hop balance. Well done for an uncommon style. hayduke (5187) - Eureka, California, USA - SEP 28, 2015

A nice dark amber colored beer. There is a good amount of pine and grass on the nose from the hops. Caramel and bread with just a little citrus on the palate, the malt adds a nice backbone to this ale. There is also some yeast present as well. dfinney23 (3246) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUL 14, 2012
Tap at Hay Merchant. Amber pour with a smallish head. Aroma of caramel and leather. Taste has a nice balance of malt and hops. jackl (8013) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUN 8, 2012
Keg @ Meddlesome Moth, Dallas. Cheers to Ericandersnavy for the pint! Deep brown body with a big, tight off-white head. The nose is fairly neutral, some deep roasted malts, some chocolate and peas. The taste is caramel, some leather, noble hops, strawberry malts and light prickly floral notes. Smooth and quite drinkable, soft carbonation. Overall, an OK beer. I’ve yet to have an alt I love, but this was pretty good. Maverick34 (3206) - New York, USA - MAY 30, 2012
Draught in Houston heights. Red brown color. Caramel and malts and mild hops. A good alt.
