Very sweet with subdued hop character. Reminiscent of a wee heavy or imperial brown in that regards. Some cocoa and brown sugar. Quick finish. BMan1113VR (7930) - Los Angeles, California, USA - FEB 4, 2011
On tap at the Gingerman. Pours with a deep brown to near black body tan head. Aroma of raisins, brown sugar, candi sugar, plums, chocolate and dark fruits. Flavors of mocha, dirt, earth, dark fruits and dried fruits. Some brown sugar and persimmons as well. Medium carbonation. A much better beer than the ratings show. Much better... On tap at Black Star in Austin, TX. Pours a deep brown colored body with an inch thick, dense and foamy, brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is lighter with some caramel, cocoa, a light dark fruit with a bit of a sourness, and a touch of acidic roast. Flavor is roasty with a touch of acidity again. Dark fruits, caramel, cocoa, and a good amount of citrusy hops. Finishes very dry with a pleasant roast, nice hoppiness, and a tad bit of acidity that leaves a light bitterness and a lengthy aftertaste. Light-medium body and smooth, moderately fizzy carbonation. Overall, a tasty, well hopped beer. Dry with a nice cocoa, light roast, and pleasant hopping.

On tap at The Gingerman Plano. This beer pours a deep brown almost black with a thin tan head. The aromas are coffee, chocolate, raisin. The mouthfeel is slightly sticky and bittersweet with a medium to heavy body. I’m not sure why it rates so low as I thought thus was quite a food beer! Cheers! Nice malty nose. Deep brown with a khaki head. Very burnt first sip. Mellows out a bit. Alcohol well hidden. Not great, but I don’t understand the general low marks. Fratto (2845) - Arlington, Texas, USA - NOV 6, 2010
Tap at the Fort Worth Gingerman. Brown pour with an off-white head. Aroma is roasted, plum, raisin, and sweet. Taste is chocolate, more dark fruit, coffee, and a light hoppy finish. Cavie (4769) - Arlington, Texas, USA - NOV 2, 2010
Tap at Gman FW. Glad to see this made it up north. Dark dark brown pour to a ruby color. Tan silky head. Aroma is roasted malts, sweet candied brown sugar and light fruit notes. Dark fruit to be exact. Flavor is a two parter. Earty hops are tasted as well as a roasted malt character. Like two beers in one fighting for dominance. Turned out pretty good though.
