The (512) India Pale Ale is a big, aggressively dry hopped American IPA with smooth bitterness (~65 IBU) balanced by medium maltiness. 100% US malted grains, loads of hops, and great Austin water create an ale with apricot and vanilla aromatics that lure you in for more.

A: The pour is a golden amber color with a big white head and some spotty lacing. S: A nice bit of sweet tropical fruits and citrus on the nose along with a substantial caramel malt base. A fair amount of grapefruit notes and subtle pine. T: The flavor tends toward the sweet side initially, mostly caramel and some brown sugar. The hops come shortly after and have a nice bitterness to them. Some slightly bitter and slightly sweet grapefruit, too. M: The body is medium with a moderate level of carbonation. Kind of heavy and chewy for an IPA. D: For a sweeter IPA, I found this one to actually be quite drinkable and enjoyable. A very nicely balanced beer.

Pours Murky orange probably due to the dry hopping. The aroma is of Pine and Grapefruit. Medium hop bitterness for an American IPA. Lingering bitter finish.

lumpsowers (288) - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA - AUG 13, 2010
Cloudy copper pour, nice head and lace. Hoppy fruity aroma. Nice carb, with a medium pine hop. Some light strawberry fruit, and a minimal alcohol bite. Good medium IPA.

BeerViking (5041) - Brentford, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 3, 2010
Pours a cloudy orange-red, the aroma is Tropicana sweet orange drink - quite off-putting! Fortunately the palate adds loads of green herby sharp hops. There’s a long green hoppy finish. Not impressed.

ilovedarkbeer (2748) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - JUN 6, 2010
Pours an orange color with a large foamy off white head. Notes of citrus, faded hops, cardboard box, and cat piss. Not holding up.

Nalu (217) - Washington, USA - MAY 10, 2010
Pours a cloudy gold with a short white head which leaves a coarse lace. Medium, but very fine carbonation. Cut grass nose, medium body, minimally sweet. Pine, fruit and floral hops (in that order), toasty middle and finish. A good session IPA and one of the top beers in Texas.

MaltOMeal (1094) - Land of Sugar, Texas, USA - MAY 10, 2010
On tap at the Flying Saucer. Pours a clear amber with an off-white head. Nose was not impressive on this. May have been too cold. Not enough citrus. More an earthy, nutty aroma. Taste was earthy and nutty with some pine. Mouthfeel was dry and bitter. OK. Not impressed by nose, but a good texture in the mouth.

Draught > Gingerman. Not very familiar w/ these guys but if their other beers are anything like this guy then we’ll be close friends soon enough. Pretty much a grapefruit bomb which destroyed my tongue so it’s all good in da hood. Tasty! Ready for another.

Copper in color with a decent off-white head. Aroma is floral, citrus, hops, perfume and pine. Taste is of hops and floral with a good malt balance. Very smooth going down.
