COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Thats right, the first seasonal offering (of many to come ) from (512) Brewing Company was brewed this week. Its a Robust Porter brewed with Pecans. Look for this beer to be released sometime in late October - We cant release it until theres at least a hint of cool weather in the air! This nearly black Porter is made with US 2-row and Crystal malts along with Bairds Chocolate and Black malts. Mild smooth hop bitterness is contrasted with sharp black malt bitterness. It has a full body and malty sweetness balanced with subtle pecan aroma and flavor from locally grown pecans. Yet another true Austin original!

Nice balance and uniqueness. Great roasted malt and nut flavor. Good dark coffee color with decent head. Palate is somewhat thinner than anticipated and works better as it warms up. Similar tastes with a strong roasted presence and pecans. Some sweetness. Little alcohol presence.

Keg at Yardhouse, Houston. It pours darkest brown, near black with a sturdy tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, plenty of toasted nuts, a good hit of coffee, treacle and cacao nibs. The taste is bitter, dry roasted malt, toasted nuts, earthy, pecan pie, chewy malt, coffee grounds, cocoa, fudge, toffee and a bit of alcohol. The finish is dry and toasty. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Could be done with a bit more depth, but its pretty decent anyhow.

Quite dark, opaque, tan head. Honey, floral notes, some espresso, dark chocolate. Predominantly sweet with some bitterness. Quite a lot of acidity, cloying oily body, really coats the mouth. Not a huge amount of carbonation. Good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Brass Tap, Fort Worth. Pours black, small tan head. Aroma is pecan, honey, saccharine, roasted malt, chocolate. I like it. Flavor is still pecan and roasted malts, but body is a bit light. More heavy and viscous and this would be killer.

APPEARANCE- super dark black and nougat colored head that dissipates quickly with no lacing. NOSE- slight malty sweetness and the roastiness comes through as it warms up. FLAVOR- malty and sweet.

On tap at Bangers Austin. Pour like dark cola, roasted aroma. This is better, a lot, as it warms. Dark cocoa, burnt wood and some nuttiness. Lots of caramel malts and relatively high carbonation. Decent Porter.

On tap at Moviehouse Flower Mound while I was visiting Dallas for a meeting. Pours a dark brown, clear color. Not much nose, mostly malt. Flavor is nutty, chocolate, malt; no pecan really. Thin mouthfeel. Pretty average porter.
