Tap. Pours a flat black body with a small wispy brown head. The nose is roasty and sweet, lots of honey or molasses maybe? Some nice chocolate notes. The flavor is on the sweeter side, with a slightly acrid roastiness on the back end. A little simple and too light bodied with an unexpected level of carbonation for it being on nitro. Lingering graininess and roast. Tastes a bit like burnt toast on the back end. Meh, OK at best for me.

Tap at brewery 11/25/16. Aroma of raisins, chocolate, black cherry. Taste is smoked peat, dark fruit including raisins, wood, earth. Delicious!

Some love the bitterness of beer i don’t care for it which is why i am rating much higher. i do like chocolate coffee notes albeit a lil bit on the watery side in itself makes an easy sessionable brew.

lamas (1651) - Washington DC, USA - OCT 21, 2016
Draft at Pi Pizzeria, Bethesda, MD location. Arrived at the table a dark mahogany with a thick and creamy tan head. The subtle aroma featured some cocoa, caramel, coffee, and dark chocolate. Went down soft and smooth with a medium body. There were no surprises taste-wise - caramel and cocoa were both present upfront and lightly bitter coffee and dark chocolate flavors were apparent at the end. The finish was only slightly dry.

On tap at Pi Pizzeria. Dark brown body with tan head. Nose is malty, chocolate and oatmeal for sure. Taste similar of malts, caramel, lots of oatmeal and some chocolate. Plummy. Nice one.

Oats and some honey or caramel. Roast. Good even showing for style. Black pour with good head and lacing. Bittersweet finish. Thick creamy consistency on nitro at brewery.

Draft at the source. Opaque dark brown color, beige head with good retention. Aroma of milk chocolate. Taste is lightly sweet and earthy cocoa. Tasty.

radagast83 (8299) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - JAN 13, 2016
4oz draft at 7 Locks. Poured a dark brown color, perhaps sort of like a dark cola color with a light tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate. Flavor is chocolate bitterness. Rich and creamy. Very smooth, light coffee notes. Not too shabby.

MadRobin (2988) - Silver Spring, Maryland, USA - JAN 9, 2016
On tap at Gilly's Craft Beer & Fine Wine in Rockville, MD. Opaque, brown-black with a tan head and very good lacing. Aroma of oatmeal, chocolate mild orange, dark fruit and roasted malt. Taste of chocolate, dark fruit, oatmeal, roasted malt and sweet orange. Medium/full body and medium carbonation. Not your typical oatmeal stout--fuller bodied with a noticeable oatmeal character and considerable fruit. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
