Serving: from tap at 7 Seas Brewing.

Taste: moderately bitter, roasted, initial flavor and finish with average duration.
Palate: light bodied with dry texture and lively carbonation.
Overall: very good.
Tap at the brewery. Dark merlot near black color. Smell some roasted malt, and gt TimE (6175) - Tokyo, JAPAN - JUL 31, 2015
Dark brown color. Light brown head. The nose is fairly malty with lots of dark fruit and chocolate notes. The mouth is medium bodied with dark fruit and burnt brown sugar with modest hoppiness. Not a ton of roasted character or hoppiness. Almost reminds of a light Black Barley Wine. Pretty interesting and the more I drank it, the more I grooved on it. Had this at a coffee shop in Puyallup. Come for the coffee, stay for the beer. Medium brown. Orange/mint/chocolate aroma. Sweetish, porterish character that only gets woody towards the finish. Lots of chocolate, and a fairly understated bitterness. Different, fun example. Captn_Ken (5) - - FEB 16, 2014 does not count
7 Seas is my local brewery, so I’m a little partial to their brews. The Cascadian pours black and is a very smooth NW dark ale. Reminds me of Guinness, but with a tad more bite and roast to it. This would be a great beer with venison or a prime cut of beef. IslandHaole (1300) - Misawa, JAPAN - OCT 6, 2012
Found this at a Fred Myers in Fairbanks AK, Dark brown, creamy beige head w/ fine bubbles, left nice rings in the glass. Sweet, roasty malts, grapefruit peel hops, sawdust. Well balanced, interesting, my first Black IPA. 22415brewery (379) - Washington, USA - OCT 2, 2012
Dark like a porter except with minimal head if any at all. Aroma is distinctly citrus, some grapefruit, herbally, and old orange peel aromas. Taste is like a citrusy and slightly sour ipa. Gives a bit of puckering on the finish. Malt is tame and indistinct. Halfway through a pint there is absolutely no head and it gives off a soda-like appearance. I was unhappy being stuck with this beer. BrewDad (5667) - Olympia, Washington, USA - JUN 5, 2011

Dark brown in color, clear with a thin head. Dark roasty malt pine like flavors. This was roasty chocolate and a super IPA dry finish. Great beer.
Growler from Malt & Vine. Pours black with a surging, dense, creamy dark tan head that really sticks around. Plenty of webby lace showing. Big roasty nose with plenty of pine. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Dark roast, fresh cut wood, pine, and bitter resin on the mid-palate, though showing relatively little hop acid or oil. Moderately intense resiny finish. Good black ipa.
