COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
7Stern-owner Sigmund Flitter just loves Bamberg’s smoked beers. So he decided to use large quantities of beech-wood - smoked malt in this franconian-inspired "Rauchbier". Dark red to black in colour with an impressive smoky nose and a full, smoky body that gives way to a robust bitterness the 7Stern "Rauchbier" is the perfect drink for those who prefer hearty smoked food or a good after dinner cigar.

Bottle via Cuso. Nice low wavy legs stick to the glass tightly and consistently remain close to the light tan head all the way down the glass. No lacing is left behind. Deep copper with moderate carbonation. A lovely gentle toned nose wafts from the glass. Body is similarly gentle and easy going. Smoked meat and honey emerge and linger shortly before stonefruit finish surrounded by smoke. Super Yum.

Bottle sample at a tasting at our place. Thanks tomer. Hazy nutty brown colour with a frothy white-cream head. Sweet smokey aroma, not too offensive. Tastes smokey and mildly bitter, medium body, grainy finish.

UPDATED: SEP 10, 2012 At a tasting, bought at the brewpub, creamy off white and long lasting head, murky light brown with yellowish taints, aroma of smoke, charred wood and bacon, flavour of wood, grassiness and charred wood, mellow bitterness and quite sour. Balanced with the smokiness quite present but not overpowering.

Bottle shared at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Thanks tomer. Brown-colored with a beige head. Pleasant smoked sausages aroma with a bit of woody notes, a bit of caramel and fraint sour notes. Sweetish flavor with malt, caramel, light sourish notes and nice meaty smokiness. Medium-bodied. A nice Rauchbier.
