Creamy, thick off-white head, good lace. Dark amber to brown color. Velvety taste, malty with hints of acid, light to medium smoky taste. Malty with pleasant smoky flavor. Pithy and full bodied, round but maybe a hint to alcoholic. Finish with a medium strong dry hop bitterness, some smoky notes. A really pleasant beer. Hazy brick red-brown colour. Very nice 1-inch lacy white foam. This was out of a 1L bottle and seems straight off the draught. Earthy and caramelly in a unified way, heavy toasty, munich nuttiness, sweetish and bordering molasses, but never syrupy, all along clearly an expertly brewed lager. Very classy, if stuffy maltiness. A sweeter rauchbier, its bock base is rich and quite heavy, but it remains incredibly drinkable thanks to the plain joy it is to drink, the flavour balance, the clean toastiness and the classy, engaging carbonation. As good as their other rauchbier. Am I impressed? Sure I am. Am I surprised? Well, not really I must say.

Dark brown, hazy body, with a medium, dense, creamy, beige head, that laces a lot.
Aroma mainly of bacon, also bread and sweet malts, like honey and caramel.
Taste with about the same aromas, but with the bready and sweet malts more in the foreground and also with a bit booze.
Medium, quite creamy mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes with a lot of bacon again, roasty, sweet malty, a bit boozy and astringent.
Very nice! Not that extraordinary, but really quaffable and with a good balance between loads of bacon and sweet, smooth malts. Overall my favourite Rauchbier from Austria I’m always looking forward to at the beginning of the year!
Draught at the brew-pub. A nice smoke lager, malty taste and sweetness from the malt. Not so much carbonation and therefore easilz drinkable. The alcoholpercent was 6.1% if I remember right.

UPDATED: JUL 25, 2015 1st Rating, February 2nd 2015: bottle at home, bought at the brewpub. dark amber color, off-white head. smells smoked, bacon, some berries like cassis & sour cherries. full body, lots of carbonation, wooden notes, smoky, some fruits / red berry notes, light alcoholic / liqueurish. light malty bitter finish. taste is very subtle smoky (compared to armoma), which for me is a good thing. drinks pretty easy.
Rerate 25.07.2015. 500ml bottle at home. BB 02/2015. brown hazy color, small off-white head. smells smoky, earthy, bacon, ligthly sour, light fruit notes. medium to full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes smoky, earthy, lightly sour, acidic, chorizo. finishes malty roasty, lightly sour, with smoke notes. still quite nice. I would give this again a 3.7, still quite nice, slightly more sour (after all this is almost 6 months old). Cristobal37 (1127) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JAN 19, 2017
On tap at 7stern Vienna. Totally dark ruby black. Sexy head on top. Aroma os smokey wood. Nice rauchbier, balanced smoke and sweet sugary malts. Tasty and satisfying but more like a simple smoked marzen than bock. Nothing intense about it. Nice. sturmthis (1149) - Bavaria, GERMANY - MAR 6, 2014
On draft. Amber color. Smells a little of berries. A sweet tasting beer. A really nice beer. Nische (2196) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - SEP 18, 2016
From backlog, had from tap at the source. Dark brown, with lasting beige head. Aroma is fairly smoked with sausage and bacon. Somewhat sweetish malty, caramel taste with smoked bacon. Smokey finish. Nice! Scopey (14523) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 17, 2012
Bottle, thanks to Leighton. It pours dark brown, with ruby highlights and a thick off-white. The nose is smoke, meat and some caramel. The taste is smoke, meat, wood, caramel, brown sugar, hay and some alcohol warmth, with a dry finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and smooth mouth-feel. Nice.
