Smell of malt, licorice, caramel, bourbon, and alcohol. Taste is the same with the addition of a nasty rye aftertaste. Thicker mouthfeel but palate is lowered due to the aftertaste.

Poured a deep amber color with aromas of sweet malt, rye booze, light dark fruit and some apricots. Flavors are dark fruit and sweet caramel with some light spicy rye and whiskey notes. Not too hot very drinkable enjoyed this would be great with a nice curchhill cigar.

Woodshed 3.0! Sample courtesy of gkost, thanks Gary!! Yes. The green waxed bottle pours with a deep copper body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up apricot and citrus mixed with plum like fruity esters flowing into pine hops and smooth vanilla, coconut and whiskey. OK. Nice. The taste delivers smooth bourbon booze, some molasses and brown sugar sweetened pine hops. It then picks up apricot, wafer thin sweet soft citrus and then plum like fruity esters. This is a nice smooth brew with plenty of depth and interest.

Bottle courtesy of tkrjukoff. Pours hazy reddish brown with a frothy and fizzy goldenish beige head that quickly dissipates while leaving a small trace on the glass. Smell is sweet and malty with caramel, toffee, charred wood, vanilla fudge, shredded coconut, hay, raisins, prunes, leather, cereal and biscuits. Taste is sweet, bitter and malty with toasted malts, caramel, toffee, grapefruit rinds, charred wood, lemon peal, raisins, biscuits, leather, burnt sugar and toasted coconut. Mouthfeel is soft, viscous, tiny astringent and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet, bitter and malty with caramel, toffee, grapefruit rinds, charred wood, raisins, burnt sugar, vanilla fudge and lemon peal. Decadent tasty barley wine.

Originally entered under the wrong beer. We had the green wax version...

Last bottle shared @ Woodshed 3.0, at least that I tried by ibrew2or3. Murky honey colored pour with a garnet at its core and a small eggshell crown. Yeasty, fresh dough, spicy, marbled rye, dry cracker, toffee, and caramel. Medium mouthfeel with ample carbonation...solid!

brokensail (16670) - Dublin, California, USA - MAY 4, 2014
Bottle @ 10K + OT. Same copper/amber colored beer with minimal khaki foam as the other variations. Harsh charred wood, lots of butterscotch, and toast. Weird spiciness (coriander?), booze, and caramel. Tastes quite sweet and sugary. Brown sugar, butterscotch, and caramel. Light vanilla. Charred wood, paper, and a bitter finish. Slightly spicy. Not very good.

[ Bottle ][ t0rin0 ][ 375mL ][ 10K+OT Tasting ][ Stemless Wine Taster ][ 5/3/14 ]

>> Low yellow foam, clear amber red. Nose is cloying twizzlers, pancake, crepe suzette. Taste is bitter, papery, not so great. Soapy. Eh.

On tap at Hunahpu’s Day 2014. Murky tannish-brown with tan head that held, thicker at the edges than the middle. Aroma was toffee/molasses with a good touch of oak and bourbon/rye. Hints of vanilla and cinnamon run throughout as well. Taste is all that was in the aroma. Layers of flavor colliding on my tongue. Really great.
