Draft... Pours black with a large, frothy, mushroom-colored head. Never-ending retention. The nose offers notes of coal, dark chocolate and spruce. Full-bodied and plush with soft carbonation. The flavor provides deeply roasted malt and singed, piney, orange peel hop bitterness. Finishes scorched and very Lake Tahoe. Know what I mean? If not, visit Tahoe and suck on a pine cone... that’s about the only tree that grows there. Not-hard-to-find.
On draft at 7venth Sun. Pours a hazy brown with a tan head. Nose is some roast, earth, and cocoa with pine in there, too. Flavor is earth, cocoa, and big pine. Light to medium in body and a nice Black IPA overall in a style I am not very fond of. burg326 (5479) - Florida, USA - SEP 2, 2012
On draft at the brewery, poured a dark brown, almost black color with a good amount of hops aromas, mostly citrus and orange, light roast and coffee aromas as well. Flavors were light dry roast followed by some earth, and light citrus, nice beer overall. Rustyham (1836) - St. Petersburg, Florida, USA - AUG 27, 2012
Great strong hoppy smell, mild coffee, citrus, and orange. Flavor is a rough earthy hoppy bitterness with some citrus bits. Mouthfeel is like a dry roasted peanut. Light and almost warming. Good, more on the ipa side than the roasty side. Growler from the brewery. jcartamdg (3402) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 16, 2012
Pours dark brown with a mocha head. Aroma of dank hops, maybe Nelson? Taste follows not overly roasty, which is nice. Pretty smooth and refreshing, a nice black ipa for the summer
