Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Paul. Hazy deep amber beer, small pale tan head. Palate is light and crispy. Good barrel action here - vanilla oak, fruity bourbon, light spice. Whisper of fruits. Mild minerals. Light dry finish. Lots of barrel spicy linger. Tasty stuff but base beer is battered!

Bottle split at Bruce’s pad, thanks to Paul, 12/06/14.
Dark mahogany brown with a moderate beige covering.
Nose is roasty maltings, lgiht coconut, BA rinse, dark fruit rind, earthy cocoa, toffee fudge.
Taste comprises mellow dark fruit mash, milk chocolate, vanilla, oaky woodness, bourbon tang, dates, dark toffee fudge.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a boozey dressing gown on the door frame - a little harsh in places on the alcohol front.
Decent BA porter.

Scopey (15885) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 12, 2014
Bottle shared at Bruce’s. It pours darkest mahogany brown with a minimal beige head. The nose is sweet, vanilla, caramel, bourbon, soft roast, Parma violet, cola and candy. The taste is toasty, earth, candy, caramel, light alcohol, vanilla, toasty coconut, faint alcohol, buoy born, bounty bar and some bitterness with a dry, earthy finish. Grade A BA porter. Bravo 7venth sun.

Bottle shared in London - big thanks to Scopey! Pours clear brown with a bubbly tan head. Great nose, smooth and rounded, with burnt honey, toffee, some cocoa, dark fruits. Medium to big sweet flavor with ripe, dark fruits, toasted toffee, raisins, marshmallows, mellow wood, brown sugar. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish, more burnt honey and toffee, some ripe, dark fruits, dates, figs, raisins, brown sugar. Outstanding. Incredible depth and nuance. At times a touch boozy but overall it’s fantastic stuff.

Bottle courtesy of jcartamdg. Cheers, Jason! Pours a deep porter brown with a tan head. Nose is bourbon, chocolate, roast, earth, and coffee with some lovely wood/ oak/ vanilla barrel notes. Flavor is similar with roast, chocolate, earth, bourbon, and vanilla. The Four Roses barrel does a lot to this beer and makes it memorable. Outstanding.

Dark brown pour, thin chocolate brown head. Really tasty! Chocolate pudding and sweet bourbon. 4 roses barrels are really great.

Bottle... Clear dark-brown ale with copper highlights and a small, creamy, off-white head. The aroma is a decadent swirl of coconut, caramel and milk chocolate. Full-bodied with laid-back carbonation. The flavor is a boozy blend of bourbon, fudge, caramel and vanilla. Warming coconut and bourbon finish. Bottle courtesy of ctipping!

Bottle shared at Berliner bash, poured a dark brown, almost black color with aromas of roast, bourbon, vanilla, earth, some light grounds, and some caramel. Flavors were a. Mixture of the aromas, just so good mixed together.

Bottle courtesy of Adam (burg) at Peg’s Cantina during the Berliner Bash, thank you sir. Pours a deep, mahogany body with spotty off white lacing. Aroma is vanilla, caramel, bourbon and sweet dark fruit. Mouthfeel is medium to creamy with notes of vanilla, oak, bourbon, caramel malt bill, and very light roast. A great example of how to successfully barrel treat a porter.

4.2
ksurkin (1021) - Norfolk, Virginia, USA - MAR 20, 2013
375ml bottle, courtesy of OmegaX. thanks, Jordan! pours a hazy, dark brown that lets just a sliver of light through and is capped by a thick, creamy beige head. aroma is great with heavy, rich notes of toasted oak, bourbon, vanilla nougat, and coconut cake backed by subtle notes of milk chocolate, almonds, graham crackers, malt candy, and banana cream pie. flavor is absolutely delicious with rich chocolate cake, dark malts, roasted coffee, and smoked nuts up front backed by vanilla beans, banana bread, toffee, and dark fruits with just a touch of warming, spicy bourbon on the back end. palate is medium bodied with light carbonation and a lingering, dry, woody finish. overall, a great beer from a great, up and coming brewery.
