Bottle at home - shared with Mette. Clear dark dark red/brown - offwhite head. High malty, lovely hoppy, dried fruits, ryebread, nutty, lovely high bitterness, light sweetness, lots of nuts. Nice pleasant.

Dark berries, soft black chocolate and some tropical fruit in the nose. Good mouth feel here- Very silky. Lowish carbonation. Big dark, wood like characteristic with a touch of cinnamon and toffee malt. Big hops to finish and well rounded. Wouldn’t say it’s a complex beer - but it’s gregarious. Alcohol well masked. Good, bold drinking - Thanks Nate!

Sample at the festival, Worcester MA. Dep copper. Scoth ale notes, malty sweetness, peat, rich bw. Ores, big and boozy. You can feel all 3 contributions. Good

From 500ml bottle on 17/6/2012 (shared with Butz). Pours a very dark amber with a smallish head. Has a smooth fruity aroma with berries particularly prominent. The Scotch ale element is quite prominent in this, and there are distinctive dark fruit notes, along with some chocolate malt. Has a big, lingering hop bitterness, which is not unexpected given the Hopwired/#100 pedigree. Nice stuff.

A dark red, port-like in colour. There’s a real melting pot of aromas - caramel, booze, berries. The beer delivers as promised. It is creamy, quite a full body giving a good mouthfeel, and has the caramels of a scotch ale, booziness of a barleywine with some berries thrown in and the bitter hoppy finish of an IPA that lingers at the end. And yet it all comes together quite nicely.

Bottle. Almost black - but clear reddish amber with a light behind it - an inch of off white head lasts and laces. Aroma of grapes, gooseberries, bitter oranges, raisins, lychees, toffee, cocoa, smoke. Sounds like a mess, but it hangs together. Oily mouthfeel. Tastes as it smells - there’s an initial citrus and resin tanginess, then smokey toffee sweetness and fruit, then as bitterness asserts itself cocoa creeps in. Lingering fruity bitter finish. Just avoiding being a jumble of flavours would have been fairly impressive here - but this has real charm. Even the joke is good.

Bottle. Pours a very deep mahogany. Dense tan coloured head that falls away very slowly leaving beautiful lacing all the way down the glass. Aromas are superb. Floral pine / citrus hops brilliantly balances by deep rich toffee sweetness. Brilliant stuff. Flavours are quite sweet initial with lots of very complex malt. Resiny hop bitterness on the finish. Medium mouthfeel. Brilliant beer.

500 ml bottle 21/5/2012. Pours clear amber brown with good tan head. Aroma of alcohol, tangerine fruitiness, peach, toffee, wood, bitumen (sorry does kinda smell like newly resurfaced road with deep inhalation guessing it’s the complexity). Bitterness, tart like baobab, smooth, sweet tangerine, bitter hops not overwhelming, smooth toffee. Smooth long lasting flavour, medium to full bodied. Creamy aftertaste. Well balanced mixture. Well done, like it.
