Medium body, average carbonation, silky texture. Taste is caramel, roasted noted, fruity, liquorice, nuts. Very well balanced, quite smooth, Warm, liquor and caramel aftertaste. Very enjoyable. omega (899) - NEW ZEALAND - APR 17, 2012
One of the better beers I have tried recently. For a train smash of three good beers this has actually worked very well. Moment you pour this you know you are in for a serious treat as it is has pungent aromas and is a dark rich mahogany. It is also very soft and balanced. I had four big beers to try tonight and though this might be a good place to start. Thinking that plan has been shot down in flames. hawthorne00 (4145) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - MAY 26, 2012
Bottle. Almost black - but clear reddish amber with a light behind it - an inch of off white head lasts and laces. Aroma of grapes, gooseberries, bitter oranges, raisins, lychees, toffee, cocoa, smoke. Sounds like a mess, but it hangs together. Oily mouthfeel. Tastes as it smells - there’s an initial citrus and resin tanginess, then smokey toffee sweetness and fruit, then as bitterness asserts itself cocoa creeps in. Lingering fruity bitter finish. Just avoiding being a jumble of flavours would have been fairly impressive here - but this has real charm. Even the joke is good. thewolf (12851) - Kolding, DENMARK - JUL 24, 2012

Deep fat amber with a medium, staying, creamy, off-white head. Aroma is nice, fat caramelly malts, strawberries, peach, piney, red currants. Lots of red berries really. Vinious. Medium carbonation, lovely creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has loads of fat caramelly malts, strawberries again, piney bitter, raspberries. Mildly warming and vinious. A very interesting, dark fruity and full DIPA.

Bottle. Very impressive beer for an amber, huge body, tons of roasted malts but good balance. ericdevin (988) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - FEB 10, 2013
Bottle at Hop & Vine, Portland. Pours a dark reddish brown. Aroma is truly amazing, rich malty and hoppy, small hints of grain and citrus, just very, very complex. Body is heavy, malty and syrupy, exactly what an Imperial Red should be. Finish is a bit citrus-y, maybe grapefruit to be specific, but really well-balanced. I haven’t been a huge fan of a lot 8-Wired beers, but this was a head-turner for sure, especially in light of this not being a favorite style. Yum!
