Sometimes - OK, rather often, actually - I find myself asking, "How far can we take it?" Keeping in mind that flavour should be the main objective at all time, the conception of Bumaye was one of those moments. To make it we started out with the baddest imperial stout we have ever brewed, and then added loads of tasty sugars to the fermenter foe extra flavour. To smooth out the roughness, we allowed the beer to mellow in Pinot Noir barrels for more than a year.

An experimental 17% Imperial stout released for Beervana 2012.

Rami Rami is drinking a Bumaye by 8 Wired Brewing Co. at Kamienica Hoża 41 Dtrasznie ciekawe. Moze nie duzo cialq ale bardzo gladkie, ciut syropowe, duzo owocow, suszu, troche kandyowanych, nieco winne klimaty [...]

Ciemnobrunatne prawie czarne piwo, piana niewysoka szybko znika. Aromat głównie pochodzący od beczki, czekolada, wanilia i ciemne owoce. W smaku owoce, trochę wanilii, rumu, w tle czekolada, lekko cierpkie. Finisz słodko-kwasny, alkohol lekko rozgrzewający. Niezłe, trochę brakuje nut palonych

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2018 Dark brown to black with a (relatively) thin pour. Very busy nose but the Pinot Noir is present along with savoury notes possibly from the barley. Wheat intensifies the Pinot Noir. Smooth mouthfeel, and very fruity, but a relative lack of tannins. Hops balance the sweet and savoury, but ultimately a well-fried, juicy bacon sandwich is what remains. Would recommend.

Pours deep red/black. Small red/brown head. Ok, this will be a hard review. Nose was harsh alcohol, umami, savoury and sweet. A complete mess. Palate was like worstershire sauce and chocolatey burning. I was ready for a sink pour, but my better demons prevailed. I let this guy like. And holy ballsack Batman! It's a new beast. I can't exactly pick up complexity, but the best comparison I can think of is the Gonzales Byass PX, 30 years old. Thick mouthfeel. There's heavy sweetness with that sweet sherry edge. You can also get traces of high end port and whisky. I've got to admit, the barrel does this thing wonders. Loads of liquorice, syrup and fruit. It takes time, but it becomes a powerful force. I love it!

What a sweet undrinkable disaster this beer. The aroma is so sickly sweet I hardly wanted to drink it. Had to let it warm up an hour to give it a go. And honestly if it weren't so expensive if probably just drain pour this. Had the Avery Tweak before this and there is just no comparison. Recently had their atlas Barleywine too which was awesome so it's been awhile since I've been so disappointed in a beer.

Sample at a beer tasting. Very thin tan head. Clear black pour. Boozy. Rum and port aftertaste. Lovely

500ml bottle. Pours pitch black. Chocolate, charcoal, tobacco, soy sauce, cherry, leather, vanilla, oak, little red grape, peppery alcohol heat. Big slick body. Very tasty. Big though.

Fles gedeeld door Jasper @ derat. Verrukkelijke geur van een bak rozijnen met een dikke laag chocola. Ik kan hier aan blijven ruiken.

Cunningham (8567) - Halden, NORWAY - NOV 3, 2017
Dark as the deepest dungeon with a fine beige head. Good lacing. Looks nice. Solid intensity in the aroma. Inviting. Full body and a pleasant carbonation level. Balanced sweetness. Not as cloying as feared. Fruity, vinous, chocolate, coffee and toffee in the flavor. Solid and complex stuff. Layer after layer…..

Very powerful stout that comes very close to tasting like port. So close, you could actually mistake it for a port. That's why I wouldn't give this a maximum score, because I prefer beers to maintain a beer character. But for occassions, this is very special. Not too much foam.
