COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A tart, dry and oaky cider. Made from new Zealand grown Sturmer Pippin and traditional cider apples. After pressing the fruit on the Zeffer farmhouse, the juice was fermented with wild yeast. To naturally mellow the acids we then let it undertake a 3 month malolactic ferment in oak. Voila! Cider as (we think) it should be. Dry and not back sweetened. Special thanks to Zeffer Brewing Co. for lending us their machinery, brains and manpower. Cheers.

Pours bright golden with a finger of white soapy head that fades quickly. Aroma is cider apples and oak. Tastes of cider apple, apple flesh, oak and booze. Slightly tart and not too sweet. Slick feel, average carbonation and long dry finish. Very good.

0.75l bottle shared with The Tasting Crew. Looks like a cider this. Pretty much crystal clear and pale golden in color. A small quickly fading white head that turns in to a sidesticking little thing. Smells quite nice. Apply not directly sweet but a nice fruity apply sweetness. Blue grapes and canned pear juices. Quite nice indeed. Not tart, not sweet but quite different. Champagne grape-like almost. Mouthdrying and a little astringent. Yellow small tart apples and good traces of cork. Different but still really tasty. 14.01.2015

Bottle at Erzbierschof Züri with SinH4. Pours very clear yellow, a bit pale. Aroma of sour apples, but still a sweet taste. Very tart, dry and crisp, but still sweet. Interesting indeed!

Finally I get to try a *real* cider. Clear golden color with white head. Aroma is apples, pure apples, sweet but not artificial, some wood. Taste is sour apples, extremely dry and tart, a hint of alcohol towards the end. Amazing dry-sour finish. Bone-dry, but still a luscious character. Spritzy carbonation. Wow, *this* is how cider should taste.

Clear golden cider colour. Candy aroma, yeasty, banana, apple, hint of wood. Apple flavour, sweet apples, apple skin. Fizzy. Finish apple, yeast, candy. Expected more.

ClubGonzo (5670) - Bergen, NORWAY - JAN 14, 2015
Bottle, shared with BBGTC. Pours a clear pale yellow body with no head to speak of. Nose is vanilla, oak, butterscotch, yellow apples, hints of apple cores and green apple juice. Taste is dry wooden apple peel tones, apple cores, green apple juice, yellow apple peel and hints of vanilla and straw. Light body, medium carbonation. Pretty nice and smooth; dry yet not sour as some ciders tend ot be in this territory. Sort of Champagne-ish, in a way. Not bad, but not amazing either.

being a bit of a sucker for spanish ciders, i was looking forward to trying one all the way from nz.. clear pale yellow, small white head. Aroma of apple and oak, quite civilized, no obvious sourness or the like. however, there is a mild hint of horse blanket which suits the cider very well. Flavor is very dry, resembling the better english ciders, with notes of apple, quite a lot of wood, and lots of apple peel bitterness. in general the flavor is mild, and the cider appears rounded and mellow. Not entirely my favourite kind of cider, but certanly well done. resembles english cider.
