COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We believe HopWired is the first bottled version of a true new world India Pale Ale made with NZ grown base malt and 100% truly unique NZ hops. We bet youll find nothing else like it on the shelves. Although the malty sweetness is there, this beer is all about the hops. Unlike an American I.P.A. which will mainly hit you with a grapefruity-citrus flavour and aroma, the unique NZ hops used in HopWired are more like a tropical punchbowl: Passion fruit, lime, oranges and Sauvignon Blanc to name but a few. A local Marlborough winemaker said it smelled like gooseberries... Gooseberries? Who has ever smelled a gooseberry?? Decide for yourself or just enjoy it without further complications. Cheers!

500 ml bottle. Pours a clear orange/amber with very little head. Aromas of citrus, over-ripe tropical fruit, spruce, and sour mash. Flavors of toasted malts, toffee, rubber, and over-ripe fruit. Very nice, but really, wheres the hops?

Amber with frothy off-white head. Citrusy hop aroma. Bitterness that lingers in the mouth. Fair lacing on glass. Overall, a good IPA.

Bottled sample. Gold in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of pale malt, wildflower honey, white pepper, and a hint of tropical fruit. A bit hoppier in the mouth, with some mild gooseberry and guava notes blending with some elements of pale malt and pine sap. Moderately bitter for the style and fairly clean finishing. A bit malt-forward for the style, which is too bad, as some of those New Zealand hops are fantastic when used in greater quantity. A pretty standard and solid IPA as is.

A well balanced IPA. My first Kiwi beer, haha. Hops kind of hit you hard, but there's a nice, clean finish, while still tasting the beer on your tongue for the next hour or so. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: FEB 20, 2013 Pours a nice amber colour. Aromas are honey and sweet malts. Lots of Hoppy, vegetal aromas as well. Flavours are sweet honey, some fruitiness, and then a nice bitterness. A touch watery - otherwise a solid IPA. Re-rate: my palate must have been affected the first time I had this. Aromas are fresh hops and greenery. Also some nice bright citrus aromas that turn to honey like malts after awhile. A nice sweetness up front, sweet clementines and honey, a dank grapefruit bitterness in the back. Nice lacing and long lasting foamy white head. Very nice.

Bottle at the Local Pub, Halandri, Athens. It is hinted that this ale is mainly hopped with Nelson Sauvin. Clear, filtered. Aroma: Pungent, piny as hell and citrusy. Some yeast, phenols, mould, grapefruit, berries, mango, pineapple... Outstanding combination. Mouthfeel: Firm, oily body. Taste: Very bitter with a solid malt base. Tropical and citrusy fruit. Herbal and nutty. Finish: Bitter, dry finish with pine resin flavours lingering. Overall: Awesome hoppy IPA.

Bottle shared with northropfrye. Auburn apperance. Attractive lacing. Sweet and bitter the way an IPA should be. Its very fruity - maybe thats why I like it. I like it. Done.
