COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We believe HopWired is the first bottled version of a true new world India Pale Ale made with NZ grown base malt and 100% truly unique NZ hops. We bet you’ll find nothing else like it on the shelves. Although the malty sweetness is there, this beer is all about the hops. Unlike an American I.P.A. which will mainly hit you with a grapefruity-citrus flavour and aroma, the unique NZ hops used in HopWired are more like a tropical punchbowl: Passion fruit, lime, oranges and Sauvignon Blanc to name but a few. A local Marlborough winemaker said it smelled like gooseberries... Gooseberries? Who has ever smelled a gooseberry?? Decide for yourself or just enjoy it without further complications. Cheers!

Bottle , Lcbo . Dark yellow , bubbly head. Strong juicy citrus aroma . Taste - excellent. Strong juicy citrus hops balanced with noticeable but balanced alcohol . Lovely stuff. Lots of pine notes in here as well . Finish is short and this one does burn a bit at the end , but minor complaints . This Lcbo import is a winner.

1/2 liter bottle: puts a lightly hazed deep gold-orangey ale in the glass - 2 finger rocky cap reduces to a surface foam and laces the glass well. Medium carbonation. Aroma is exotic fruits, white grapes, maybe some goose berry over lush pale malt sweetness -.Flavour is very unique, rounded and sturdy bodied. There is good balance in the front side with big chewy malt (more bready than sweet) and hops forming a great amalgam - mid palate there is complexity- grape skins, berry, fruit peels, earthiness, steamed cereal - the finish is long and increasingly bitter but not annoyingly so. This is an unconventional big rich IPA that I want in my cellar for special occasions.

Very good IPA considering how long it probably took to get here and how long the LCBO probably sat on it in the warehouse. Pours clear orange with pillowy head and decent lacing. Aroma of malt, citrus and pine. Finishes bitter and a little sweet. The consistency is a little thicker than average. Average carbonation. Nicely balanced. Bottle.

toadrush (384) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - APR 3, 2013
500ml bottle from LCBO. Poured cool into a tulip glass. Colour is a clear vibrant orange. Aroma is fruity and reminiscent of american IPAs. Taste is impressive - kiwis most pronounced but plenty of tropical flavour here. The finish is quite bitter which I expect from a great IPA. All around a great and unique IPA.

(500mL bottle from LCBO) Pours a clear medium orange with a small, fine white head that dissipated quickly leaving lots of lace. Aroma hits you with tropical fruits - passion fruit up front, lime and orange rind, then melon lingering in the background, and more wet leaves than resin. Some caramel malt in the nose for support. Flavour has a slightly grainy sweet malt supporting orange, bit of pineapple, slight white wine, moving towards bitter mandarin and lime peel, and a healthy dose of hop bitterness that dries the finish out completely but with pith more than resin characters. Medium-light body, smooth, bit high carb but fairly soft. This is a super blend of NZ hops and US IPA characters, great fruit, great balance of flavour and drinkability. Needs summer weather!

probstblueribbon (4088) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - APR 3, 2013
500 ml bottle from LCBO, served cool in a tulip glass. Clear orange amber with a fair off white head. Rich grapefruit and citrus, some pine, sweet crunchy caramel, rye bread crust, resin, a little tropical fruit, quite nice. Medium body, somewhat relaxed effervescence. Plenty of dark rye bread smothered in marmalade, pine and resin abound, caramel and burnt sugar, pretty nice; du with good bitterness and a fairly long rue brad, grapefruit pith and pine/resin finish. Quite good, if a little typical.

An exceptional IPA from New Zealand. A really solid malt body, with a nice undertone of caramel. A full bodied IPA with nice notes of citrus fruits, orange and grapefruit especially, that’s very refreshing. Picked up as many as I could while they last at the LCBO!

Spab (4069) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 31, 2013
500 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a clear bright orange colour with light, soapy white head. Aroma interesting tropical fruit with fruity, caramel malt. Flavour is pineapple, white grape, grains and caramel. Astringent, moderately bitter finish. Nice.

Spruce, orange and pineapple herbal hop notes figure prominently in the aroma with underlying malty sweetness. Clear deep golden coloured body is topped by a low, off-white head that recedes slowly to a partial cover with some lacing. Flavour offers a stiff malt sweetness offset by cedar, spruce, tangerine and pineapple hop flavours with fairly strong bitterness bringing up the finish and lingering. Medium light body with moderate carbonation. I bet fresh on tap this one’s a real cracker! Tulip glass. Fridge temperature. Bottle purchased at Brewery Creek in March 2013.
