Spruce, orange and pineapple herbal hop notes figure prominently in the aroma with underlying malty sweetness. Clear deep golden coloured body is topped by a low, off-white head that recedes slowly to a partial cover with some lacing. Flavour offers a stiff malt sweetness offset by cedar, spruce, tangerine and pineapple hop flavours with fairly strong bitterness bringing up the finish and lingering. Medium light body with moderate carbonation. I bet fresh on tap this one’s a real cracker! Tulip glass. Fridge temperature. Bottle purchased at Brewery Creek in March 2013. Pale golden pour with a nice thick white head. The aroma is absolutely amazing. Kiwi and clean grapefruit/lemon citrus with a little bit of pepper and some lovely fresh grassy character. Very clean bitterness and a lingering hoppy finish. Some herbal character in addition to the citrus notes. Fresh and tasty with a lot of fresh character. floydian1 (1454) - FNQ, Australia, - MAR 27, 2013
Bottled (500ml) with expiry of 12/13. Clear copper-amber poor with an ample off-white head that laces nicely. Heaps of tropical fruits on the nose with passionfruit, oranges, limes, and lychees/melons to the fore with a caramel malty background. Dry Sauvignon Blanc grapes in there as well. Palate has plenty of malty sweetness with the fruity NZ hops coming through on the mid tongue and finishing pleasantly bitter and dry. Medium bodied with a creamy texture and perfect carbonation. Lovely balance and good length. An excellent IPA. There are some really good boutique brewers in New Zealand!

500ml bottle. Pours a clear medium amber, with a moderate off-white head, which lasts very well and leaves good lacing. Passionfruit, lime and lychee are prominent in the aroma, with toasted rye bread and caramel malt notes in support. Potent tropical hops up front offer melon, lime and passionfruit, with a touch of kiwifruit coming in towards the mid-palate. Caramel and rye bread malt lend it a little body. Bitter grapefruit and lime hops give it a nice, refreshing finish. With so many IPAs out there, it takes a fair bit to stand out from the crowd, but this beer certainly achieves it. The intense tropical NZ hop flavours make this one of the best IPAs I have had in some time.

UPDATED: JUN 10, 2013 Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours a golden amber colour, with a moderate, off-white/slight tanned head. Very piney aroma with a hint of tropical/citrus fruits, possibly kiwi fruit. Taste is huge - big honey malt sweetness balances out the hop flavours and a pleasant, lasting bitterness has me reaching for more. Really well constructed IPA with a unique complexity. 500 ml bottle. Pours a clear orange/amber with very little head. Aromas of citrus, over-ripe tropical fruit, spruce, and sour mash. Flavors of toasted malts, toffee, rubber, and over-ripe fruit. Very nice, but really, where’s the hops? eric_victor (57) - Manitoba, CANADA - MAR 3, 2013
Amber with frothy off-white head. Citrusy hop aroma. Bitterness that lingers in the mouth. Fair lacing on glass. Overall, a good IPA. piscator34 (2515) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - FEB 27, 2013
Bottled sample. Gold in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of pale malt, wildflower honey, white pepper, and a hint of tropical fruit. A bit hoppier in the mouth, with some mild gooseberry and guava notes blending with some elements of pale malt and pine sap. Moderately bitter for the style and fairly clean finishing. A bit malt-forward for the style, which is too bad, as some of those New Zealand hops are fantastic when used in greater quantity. A pretty standard and solid IPA as is.
