COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We believe HopWired is the first bottled version of a true new world India Pale Ale made with NZ grown base malt and 100% truly unique NZ hops. We bet you’ll find nothing else like it on the shelves. Although the malty sweetness is there, this beer is all about the hops. Unlike an American I.P.A. which will mainly hit you with a grapefruity-citrus flavour and aroma, the unique NZ hops used in HopWired are more like a tropical punchbowl: Passion fruit, lime, oranges and Sauvignon Blanc to name but a few. A local Marlborough winemaker said it smelled like gooseberries... Gooseberries? Who has ever smelled a gooseberry?? Decide for yourself or just enjoy it without further complications. Cheers!

Tap at Craft Brixton - 28/09/12. Lightly hazed amber with a thin white head. Nose deominated by tropical fruit, mango, papaya, passion fruit, a little pine and hops. Taste follows with some bitter grapefruit, more pine, a bit sharper than the largely sweet nose suggested. Medium bodied with a sweet fruity finish.

Keg @ CBC Brixton. The pour’s deep amber with a big white head. The nose is apricot, honey, marmalade, green shoots. The taste is sweet fruity malt, hints of mango and tropical fruits. Honey, light pissy citrus. Chalky mineral. Smooth and fresh. A bit syrupy and big-bodied. Overall, quite good! On form.

Same ol’ thing. Pours an amber color with too much sweetness. Hops provide a unique grape/berry element with some wet grass but the malt sweetness is a bit too present for my taste.

Orange coloured beer with a good head. NIce hopped, good fruity and grassy at both the smell as taste.

malty, and grapey. Way to much in malts for the few hops in this beer, like so many of the foreign ipas

pours light orange, very see-trough (the clearest most i had so far)small, rather fast fading foam, smells very nice. citrushoppy more than bitter, yet still very different. label sais unique hops, so that probably explains it.doesnt taste bitter at all, just hoppy. great mouthfeel, taste dissapears very quickly, overall very nice but more wattery than i’m used too. thanx to the australien guys who brought me this one !

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2013 Orange-amber body, medium white head, streaky lacing. Nose is full of tropical new zealand hops: floral and tropical fruits--mango, pineapple, grapefruit and orange. Pleasant malt profile is accentuate my the fruity hops in the flavor profile. Medium bodied, appropriate carbonation, nice bitter finish.

The hops are great in this, of course, with peaches and mangoes... but what struck me more than anything was the awesome malt body. Oddly enough. Slightly more syrupy than usual, and just bursting with those deep flavours, that part of the beer made this seem like a well made double IPA, without the extreme clashes in your mouth.
