COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We believe HopWired is the first bottled version of a true new world India Pale Ale made with NZ grown base malt and 100% truly unique NZ hops. We bet you’ll find nothing else like it on the shelves. Although the malty sweetness is there, this beer is all about the hops. Unlike an American I.P.A. which will mainly hit you with a grapefruity-citrus flavour and aroma, the unique NZ hops used in HopWired are more like a tropical punchbowl: Passion fruit, lime, oranges and Sauvignon Blanc to name but a few. A local Marlborough winemaker said it smelled like gooseberries... Gooseberries? Who has ever smelled a gooseberry?? Decide for yourself or just enjoy it without further complications. Cheers!

500 ml bottle.
Pours a dark copper colour with a white head. Rich aroma of caramel, strong floral hops, sweet exotic fruits, pine and dark biscuity malts. Strong flavour of caramel malts, strong floral hops, exotic fruits and pine, grapefruit and some dark fruitiness. Full bodied, thick mouthfeel and a long bitter and fruity finish. Complex and very tasty with a huge hop bite.

TET (3034) - Kaarina, FINLAND - APR 13, 2012
A copperbrown beer with a medium, but slightly disappearing, blond head. Aroma is tropical fruity, lychee, gooseberries, some peachy sweetness; sophisticated aroma. Taste is also sophisticated and fruitfull, lychee and gooseberries, medium bitterness that turns into slightly piney. Medium bodied and smooth to drink. Fruitfull and sophisticated, even modest, because so great flavours could be much more.

Bottle. Poured clear copper color with an average to large frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy earthy hop aroma. Medium to full body with slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This beer exceeded my expectations.

Bottle from brewdog.com. Lots of summer fruits, oranges, kiwi, strawberry, all that kind of stuff. Nice and surprising.

jstraw (1967) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 7, 2012
Muddy orange-amber with fair, creamy, off-white head / Vile, skunky, manure and celery nose / Medium body, mildly biting but astringent, with fair, very bitter finish / Insipid flavors of pine, citrus, and celery / My bottle doesn’t seem to jive with the ratings?

Bottle from New Beer Dist. Pours a crystal clear orange with an eggshell colored head. The aroma is a beautiful complex blend of tropical fruits, pine, caramel and a sugary sweetness. Sort of like a bowl of Fruity Pebbles. The flavor is loaded with juicy exotic fruits, and a good amount of bitterness balanced out by the sweet malts. This is one Bold IPA! The best I’ve had from NZ.

elhefeweizen (38) - DENMARK - MAR 23, 2012
bottle. a nice floral, hoppy ipa. Not a lot of head retention or foam, a clear golden amber brew that has plenty of flavor. nice ipa

mgermani (1002) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 22, 2012
Pours a very, very cloudy dusky gold with a modest head (scattered foam) and a bitter, yeasty/fruity aroma - almost astringent. Tropical punch flavour for sure - pineapple, white grape. Creamy body (it was very cloudy) with decent carbonation. Delicious, but I wish it had been a touch crisper, and the cloudiness was very off-putting.
