Beware, this is a BIG beer. Brimming with luscious roasted coffee and chocolate malt flavours which are balanced by a brisk bitterness and bold freshness from the hops. If youre feeling politically incorrect try it with your favourite cigar, or a dram of your best single malt whisky. Or, if your tooth is sweeter, why not jump in at the deep end with the most decadent dessert of all; half a bottle in a glass with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream on top (beer geeks like us know it as the Imperial Stout Float). Or simply enjoy it on its own as a decadent dessert or night cap - the perfect winter warmer! If you dont already know the history of Russian Imperial Stouts please check it out on the internet, its a good story. But remember, although based on that century-old classic style, this beer is a very modern interpretation, like all our beers!

Bottle at the Anderson, cheers Jim! Pours an opaque black with a large ashen head that shrinks down to a few millimeters and leaves a dark lacing on the glass. Aroma dominated by dark malt with a little citrus hop. Drinks very easily for its strength. Bitter coffee, tannin, tobacco, chocolate and smoke. Very good

Bottle from BrewDog online, and shared at Dans. Pours black with a lasting beige head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits, toffee, plus a touch of mint. Moderate sweetness, medium roasted bitterness. Full bodied, slick texture, soft carbonation. A complex and very enjoyable beer.

Piwo w kolorze czarnym nalewa sie z obfita bezowa drobnopecherzykowa piana. W aromacie palone slody, kawa i lukrecja. W smaku polslodkie z niskim wysyceniem i palona goryczka na srednim poziomie. Czuc tyton i popiol, troche ziemiste z lekko rozgrzewajacym alkoholem. Geste i polpelne cialo a w dodatku dosc mocno nachmielone.

Blackish brown colour with beige head on top which leaves some beautiful lacing as it slowly dissolves. Aroma has roasted malts, sweet fruits, milk chocolate and maybe vanilla. Taste is quite roasted and dry. Roasted malts dominate, coffee and salty licorice with surprisingly bitter ending. Full oily texture with medium carbonation. Aroma was more sweet and the taste was more like traditional Russian Imperial Stout.

Bottle @ home, Cellared 18 months, the color is black with a medium to large head, good duration and nice lacing. Aroma is fruity sweet, roasted and slightly sour with notes of chocolate, old resinous hops (in a nice way), lemon, coffee, cinnamon , earth, leaves, vanilla and oak. Palate is smooth yet with a quite sharp carbonation. Big body. Flavors of chocolate, coffee, vanilla, licorice, grape fruits, oranges. Balanced Assertive bitterness in aftertaste.

0,33l bottle at home bought from Beer Republic. No BB date. black color, dark coffee-colored head. smells bitter chocolate, earthy, bit dusty, lightly sour, light vanilla, nice smell but not totally convincing. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes rather strong of ash, licorice, bit earthy, light vanilla, light peppers, coffee grounds, once it warms up more oats, some light pine and citric notes. finishes light to medium roasty bitter and dry with notes of ash, light chocolate and vanilla. overall good, but taste at first (when cold) was rather unbalanced towards ashy bitterness. after it warms up it gets a bit better, but still lacks some balance. overall rather decent beer though.

Bottle at home. Three years old. Pours a dark brown to black colour with a big compact light brown head. Aroma of roasted coffee beans, chocolate truffles, sweet licorice, roasted malt and some oak and alcohol. The flavour is more roasted with ash, heavy roasted malt, coffee, tobacco and dark chocolate in the background. Has soft and silky mouth feel, full-bodied and solid bitterness. A really tasteful and aromatic IS with a nice balance between roasted malt and sweet chocolate. Especially lots of chocolate in the aroma.
