COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
My idea of a strong ale was brewed with loads of malt, hops, jaggery and a touch of manuka smoke.
It was fermented with a clean ale yeast to let the ingredients speak for themselves without getting interrupted by too many esters.
After all that it was aged for 5 months on American oak, then refermented in the bottle.

Aroma is malts, slightly smokey and a mild perfumed note. The flavor is malts, grapefruit, tropical fruit, lime, hop resin and a mix of sour and alcohol in the finish.

Beautiful Burgundy Body (hey thats an alliteration!) and a nice foamy head on top though Id surmise it would take some coaxing rather than coming out of the closet by itself. Aroma of lacquer and paint thinner, some hops, vague maltiness thats sadly not bolstered too well by this beers situation. Flavour is murky swampwater of hazelnut and hops with an alcoholic finish. Just uncomfortable, not refreshing, which is too bad. But drinkable, howmever.

Dark brown body and small head. Fermenting fruit, woody, Calvados, sweet malts, aged, herbal hops. Layered taste, powerful. Lots of sweet malts balanced by barrel aging. Wow, concentrated and delicious. Its freaking expensive but very good too. (33cl bottle from De Molen, brought by Bertanne)
