Dark brown body and small head. Fermenting fruit, woody, Calvados, sweet malts, aged, herbal hops. Layered taste, powerful. Lots of sweet malts balanced by barrel aging. Wow, concentrated and delicious. It’s freaking expensive but very good too. (33cl bottle from De Molen, brought by Bertanne) elbernays (1639) - Dublin, IRELAND - JUL 12, 2014
330ml bottle at home from drinkstore. Pours brown with white head. Looks lovely with nice lacing. This is like a rummy liquor. Big toffee caramel butterscotch, vanilla nose. Smooth creamy toffee, cherry, wood, coffee, lightly smoked flavour. The body is immense and mouthfeel is luxurious. Fantastic. SuperTiti33 (893) - Aylmer, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 27, 2014
Ambrée/roux. Nez: boisé/chêne. Vanille. Caramel. Sucre d'orge. Érable. Bouche: très riche. Légèrement fumé(bacon). Très boisé. Sirop d'érable. Pacane/noix enrobé de sucre. Très bien. ciaranc (1102) - Dublin, IRELAND - AUG 16, 2014
330 ml bottle from drinkstore. Really deep amber in colour, really opaque, thing off white head, doesn’t last, great lacing. Nose is dark fruits cherries, raisins, oak, port notes, rich fruity esters, whiskey notes too. Intense flavour of dark rich fruits, more port wine, reminiscent of an aged whisky. Huge body, big syrupy mouthfeel, minimal carbonation bit it’s there. Long complex finish with a touch of bitterness to offset the dark fruits. Excellent. omega (900) - NEW ZEALAND - AUG 2, 2013
Pours a very dark amber colour with little head. Sounds disgusting but the aroma reminds me of overripe banana - big rich and pungent. You can almost smell the sugar. I can understand why people have said barley wine. Palate is soft and cloying with good length. Can’t say I got much in the way of smokiness from this beer, but have to say it is one to savour.

Mighty ale indeed and much like a Barley Wine.....kinda! anyway apart from all the "little pinky out" bullshit it’s a good one. Vells (1894) - Rīga, LATVIA - DEC 16, 2013
Awww.. great brew.. Intense malty, caramel, loads of hops, wood, intense fruitiness. Somewhat reminds barley wine. Quite thick and syrupy. Sweet with nice bitterness. Great balance and great in each aspect. Gimme moaaar BenH (3436) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JAN 9, 2014
