It’s red-brown with a creamy and lasting head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel, nuts, light chocolate and fruit. The flavour is moderately sweet with a dry bitterness, that surprises me in a BA. The notes are citrus, grass, light caramel and chocolate, and the finish is dry and bitter. It’s nice, but maybe too hoppy to be a BA. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - FEB 16, 2012

Bottle. Near black with a beige foam. Aromas are nutty with biscuit and a light smokiness. Weetabix with bready yeast and cream. Milk chocolate with oats and toffee. Flavours are sweet toffee and chocolate with earthy hops. Bready yeast with toffee and some light metal. Spicy and hoppy on the finish. Well balanced. Good.

Brown color. Medium-sized khaki head. Little lacing. Hoppy aroma. Some malt notes. Taste is malty with a nice hop presence. A little malt sweetness and a nice bitterness to balance it out. A little thinner than imagined, but overall decent.

50 cl bottle @ home. Pours slightly reddish brown with some sediment and a large off-white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is nuts, toasted, almost roasted, malts, fruity hops. Flavour is pretty similar to the aroma with a slightly bitter finish. Gramoit (490) - Surrey, ENGLAND - AUG 6, 2012
Good brown ale without being spectacular. Taste includes strong malt character such as caramel and some chocolate. Kriegbaum (845) - Randers, DENMARK - AUG 30, 2012

Poured darker than expected, with a good dense head. Great aroma of fresh hops and sweet malty goodness and and amazing flavored of hops, bready malt base and a strange (but delicious) toffee apple hint.

500ml bottle. Pours out with far too much head; obvious carbonation issues evident. Brownish amber beneath. There’s an initial hop blast in the aroma that rises above brown sugar and fruitcake notes from the malt, and they work together well in tandem. The same can be said of the taste, in which the hops do a good job of smoothing out the sweetness. I’ve often found brown ales to be sweet and predictable, and whilst this didn’t knock me for six, it at least helped to elevate the style above those notions this time around.
