UPDATED: JAN 31, 2018 Pours a deep amber color with off-white head. Roasty, funky aroma. Mostly malty with some tart lactic edges. Notes: at the 4th Annual Sour Saturday, Atomic Liquors, Las Vegas Nov '16

drjoeng (1484) - SINGAPORE - JUL 22, 2017
2014 Edition. 7.5%ABV. Sour. Poured out black brown. 38 SRM. Nose has all the elements of a Belgian lambic with hints of dirty straw and a dry woody acetic aroma. Hints of lemon juice in the nose as well. Mouthfeel is juicy and dry. The palate has some solid pale and wheat malt flavors with raw wheat flour and dough. Astringent bitter flavor is fighting for dominance on the first approach and ultimately wins out with an astringent bitter, dry finish. The fruity flavor is that of an unripe plum with a tannin stickiness overlaid with a persistent sour. Finish is woody, dry, and grape-skin tannins. Overall, a successful barrel-aging experiment. With the flavors pinot melding very nicely with the dry lightly vinegary flavors of the lambic. Goes on Favorites List!

Pours jet black with a bubbly head that disapparates rather quickly. Aroma is brett, roasty, earthy notes. Palate is well balanced - some oaky notes, sweetness from the barrel component, decent Brett funk - lovely sour stout.

Ungstrup (39313) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - JAN 15, 2017
Draft. A brown beer with a tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and brettanomyces. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and brettanomyces, leading to a tart finish.

Niksko (641) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - DEC 20, 2016
Pours a cola color with a very fluffy light tan head. Nose is lemony tartness, a little caramel, brandy, maybe a touch of urinal cake. Flavor is lemon sourness, caramel, vanilla, brandy, a little oak, a little dark malt roundness. Medium to light body, spritzy, leaves a tart but pleasant aftertaste. A little bit of a letdown to be honest. I don’t get much dark malt character or much barrel, and the sourness is nice but lacks a lot of funk or complexity.
