10’000 years in the making, the LPA marks the return home for beer. From the land where beer and human civilisation were born, comes a new brew that is a marriage between Western brewing tradition, Eastern complexities, and a sublime expression of the Lebanese Renaissance. It was inspired straight from the Lebanese spice markets. For decades there has been little choice in the diversity of Lebanese beers. This beer provides an alternative for the Lebanese population, with ingredients such as za’atar, sumac, mint, sage, anise, and chamomile. The use of such herbs and spices makes this distinctive craft brew truly Lebanese.

12 oz bottle This is my first Lebanese beer. The ale poured a clear amber color with almost no head only a white collar. The aroma was mint like. The taste was much more complex with citrus peel, mint, hops and grass. The ale was somewhat watery with soft carbonation. The finish was also complex with mint and spices letf as an aftertaste.

Pours golden yellow with a moderate white top. Aroma is sweet spice that is sharp and sweet bready malts. Taste is odd, almost a honey and other spices dominate the palate with a nice base malt to round it out. The spices though just throw me off too much.

Pours a golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty spicy herbal aroma. Malty spicy herbal chamomile and sage flavor. Not so found of the spices in this. Reminds me of a Italian/Turkish Pizza restaurant

12oz bottle pours a deep orange with some thin, sudsy white head. Nose is all spice, it’s interesting because I get a TON of the sumac, mint is definitely there too, grains of paradise, lavender, some soap. Flavor is odd too, more nutmeg and cardamom, some light mint, some soap, a little tannic, sumac there too. Medium, herbal finish. Very strange.

330ml bottle from Archive Beer Boutique. Coppery colour initially but changes to a deep amber. Decent had that stays for a while then quickly collapses. The flavour is quite peppery and leaves a dirty earthy aftertaste, musty even.

Wow! This beer is different. These guys really pushed the boat out with this one. Pours out a deep amber color with a good head on it. The aroma is a spice cabinet with sage, wild mint, anise and more. It is difficult to tell where the spices start and the hops end. The spices are dominant on the palate without being bitter. Definitely worth a try.

Reddish amber pour with a thick white cap. Malt, hops, faint citrus, lemon, bread, all fairly subdued. Medium carbonation and slightly dry.

12oz bottle in a shaker. Pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma of light hops, spices, and pale and caramel malts. Flavor the same, with the spices not really adding to this beer. Average texture. Interesting but not the best.

Bottle at Babajan, April 2013. (my first one from Lebanon) Clear amber with a small head. Aroma of oregano, herbs, toffee, some honey, malt and cardboard. About the same in the weak taste. The finish was on the sweet side. Unbalanced and odd.

Bottle 330ml at Volo
Aroma mint , anise , clove, hops with malty backing. Hint of fennel at end.7-
Appearance hazed amber with short lived top. 2+
Flavor and Palate : Mid bodied. Hop accents with Middle East spices. Interesting. It would go great with pizza.
