10’000 years in the making, the LPA marks the return home for beer. From the land where beer and human civilisation were born, comes a new brew that is a marriage between Western brewing tradition, Eastern complexities, and a sublime expression of the Lebanese Renaissance. It was inspired straight from the Lebanese spice markets. For decades there has been little choice in the diversity of Lebanese beers. This beer provides an alternative for the Lebanese population, with ingredients such as za’atar, sumac, mint, sage, anise, and chamomile. The use of such herbs and spices makes this distinctive craft brew truly Lebanese.

A very spicy aroma and flavor of thyme and anise with a watery mouthfeel. Color is pale brown with a fading white head.

Bottle: Thanks to Joes: Served in a Snifter: Small off white head/lacing on top of a cloudy yellow orange colored beer. Aroma is just like pizza: oregano, tomato, dough, some spices, hint of smoke and light hint of something light hoppy. Flavours of herbs, some malts, pizza herbs, light herbal/floral, bitter, yeast, light dry. Quite a special one in every sense. Aftertaste is a mix of herbs, pizza herbs, dry and bitter. Low carbo, soft creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied and a light creamy texture. Pizza beer! Seriously!

Bottle shared by Joes. A bit unclear orange golden color, virtually no head. Incredibly enough this beer smells like pizza and herbs. Taste is about the same: pizza, oregano, herbs, spices. YUK!

Bottle @ joes. Clear orange colour with a small white head. Smells food, spices, herbs.. Very weird. Tastes malts, food, herbs and spices, caramel. This beer reminds me of pizza. I prefer my pizza to be non-liquid though. No carbo at all, thin body.

(bottle 30/07-2013) low white head, slightly unclear orange color, odd herb aroma, bitter spicy herb taste. Produced 17/08/2012, BB date 17/08/2013.

Bottle at home from ØlKonsortiet. Pours slightly hazy yellow with a small white head. Pizza spice aroma, medium low aroma, lots of spices. Low bitterness. I do not like this!

330 ml bottle.
Pours a cloudy copper colour with a white head. Aroma is something very strange; fresh mint leaves, coriander, some pepper, grass and some flour. Complex flavour ensues; bitter green tea, mild grassy hops, tomato sauce (what the fuck), oregano, naan bread and loads of residual earthy flavours. Does indeed have a light body. Bone-dry finish with some maltiness and lingering spiciness accompanied with tingling grassy bitterness. Hands down one of the strangest beers I’ve ever had. Can’t find anything bad to say about this beer, it’s just very different than anything else without being overwhelming. Have this if you can, it’s an experience.

Idiosynkrasie (7533) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - JUL 17, 2013
330ml bottle. Clear amber colour with small, frothy, diminishing, minimally lacing, white head. Oriental, peppery spicy herbal aroma, hints of thyme, oregano, coriander, cumin, sage, chamomile overtones. Taste has initially similar notes in lower intensity, later more bitter and minimally soapy. Well rounded spicy combination that is nice to smell; and one I’d rather prefer to eat than to drink.

GoufCustom (2005) - HONG KONG - JUL 12, 2013

330ml bottle bought at Gorgeous Wine & Cigar in Yuen Long.

Clear amber colour; Three-quarter finger head and off-white foam which last for about 30 seconds; Small sticky lacing with fizzy carbonation; Fragrant aroma of mint, black peppercorn, thyme, spices, light malt and dough; Near zero sweet taste of very light malt, with peppercorn, thyme, sumac, strong Middle Eastern food spices, and faint citrus; Mid to light body, thin and slightly slick palate; Taste profile is very light and thin pale ale loaded with pretty strong, fragrant and tasty Middle Eastern food spices common in Hammus, Baba Ganoush, Falafel, etc. Its smell and taste are strong enough to suppress the remaining citrus / grass hop taste, but not to point of annoying; Hoppiness is very faint citrus nose, trace of citrus taste and bitterness. Finish is a mix of sumac, thymes and notes of grass; Pretty dry after taste, very easy to mouth.

Comments: A very unique brew, featuring Middle Eastern spice nose and taste above everything else. No grapefruity citrus or strong hops can be found, but a strong yet quite pleasing Mid-East spice vibe for easy afternoon enjoyment. Very interesting to try, enjoyable, but not yet great.

Bottle, 6.3%. Spicy and herbal aroma. Cloudy grey amber colour. Small white head. Vegetable flavour. Good malt base, but a strange flavour. Black pepper and liquorice root finish. Interesting, but not that good.
