COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Special - March 2012.
Heavenly Porter is a robust porter blended and aged with Heaven Hill old style bourbon. Distilled in the heart of bourbon country Kentucky since 1788, charcoal filtered to make a smooth and mellow whiskey. The beer is deep brown with a reddish tinge in colour thanks to the carefull blend of eight malts which give a slightly sweet aroma and a smooth initial taste and medium body. As the journey continues the slight warmth of the bourbon becomes evident and follows the beer down leaving you with a dryness in the mouth and warmness in your belly.

Keg at Southern, Edinburgh, Saturday 19th March 2016 in the company of Dad and Barry. Lovely roastiness, some vanilla, some soft squidgy caramel, lovely nose. In the mouth this is a tad disappointing, milky, it’s creamy it’s nice but it’s a bit thin and lacking. Ok. A8 A4 T5 P3 Ov12 3.2

Cask at The Market Tavern, Durham, £3.70/pint. Dark ruby brown beer with a large, creamy, cream-coloured head that laces the glass well. The nose is very appealing and full of rich, lightly burnt toffee and caramel, like creme brulee. The taste has awesome, thick, smooth texture with rich cocoa, creme brulee, oat, brandy butter and cream flavours, finishing with just a hint of warming edge from the bourbon. Very good indeed.

Pint at the Schooner Gateshead. Deepest mahogany with a creamy off-white head. Vanilla chocolate aroma. Vanilla, chocolate, a bit of raisin flavour. Sweet and smooth, I found the bourbon hard to detect. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Pleasantly uncomplicated.

Cask @ Craft Beer Company, Covent Garden, London. Clear, darker red with next to no head. Has a soapy roasted malt aroma and taste, but fairly smooth tasting for it. Has a small sweetness running throughout its character.

Backlog rating. Cask at CBC Clapham, Craft 100. It pours a dark brown color with a medium beige head. Aroma is raisins, dark chocolate, wood, toasted grains, leather and some light wild berry tones. Taste is quite sweet with more bourbon notes of vanilla, raisins and wood, some more toasted grains red berries. Soft alcohol kick in the finish with mild tanginess. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, quite good

Craft Clerkenwell. Cask - thanks to Ray. Clear dark amber - brown beer, good pale tan head. Smooth palate, modest carbonation. Smooth and mild dark mats. A general tang that may be malt or bourbon derived or both! Mild bourbon, touch of vanilla. Finishes smooth. A pretty mild.porter with a mellow bourbon twist.

Cask at Cask Pub and Kitchen. Reddish dark beer. Really quite sweet and fruity, sort of black forest gateau flavours. Wouldn’t have guessed the bourbon finish. Nice for a change.
